Looking for ideas of books that will grab a 10-11 year boy's attention. What gave your boy's read that he wanted to keep reading and not put it down?

The Dangerous book for boys en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dangerous_Book_for_Boys and there is a reading suggestions on it which my son followed

VashtaNerada · 18/10/2019 05:32

You do know that ‘boy’ isn’t a personality trait? My DD and DNephew read the same books. What are his interests? Does he like fiction or non-fiction? It’s a personal choice.

At that age my DS liked the Wimpy Kid books and the Cherub series. Always hated any fantasy type books so no Percy Jackson or Harry Potter or similar.

Witchend · 18/10/2019 09:32

Ds' recently read favourite books include:

Lone Pine Series
Alex Rider
Cherub/Henderson Boys
Biggles
Cue for Treason
Daughter of Time

MerryMarigold · 18/10/2019 09:38

Depends how much of a reader they are really. Alex Rider series was great for him. He also enjoyed Michael Morpurgo if we took it in turns to read (I didn't mind reading these with him but couldn't be bothered with Alex Rider sensationalism!).

My ds2 is now 10 and has read Harry Potter, Percy Jackson (there are 2 series of these), and currently on the Maze Runner series which his 13yo brother just read. He also goes back to David Walliams sometimes, which ds1 never got into.

Also Suzanne Collins Overlander and the Hunger Games. The Young James Bond series. Patrick Ness ( but this may have been slightly older).
