My almost 10 year old son loves reading! He's worked his way through all of Roahl Dahl, David Walliams, David Baddiel, and Jeff Kinney. He's also read all of the beast quest, how to train your dragon and horrid henry books. Some of these he's read more than twice. Any age appropriate suggestions for what to get him next would be appreciated (stand alone or a series). I've got the Harry Potter boxset bought in ready for Christmas although he definitely prefers more comedy style books - David Walliams and Jeff Kinney in particular. I love that he enjoys this so much and want to make sure he doesn't run out of books 😊

@LuckyAugust

Harry Potter is a good next step. Beyond that depends on his interests. Here are some series that grabbed DS's attention:

Percy Jackson
BIggles
Sean Yeager
Artemis Fowl

Hope that helps

If he likes Football try the Football Boy Wonder and the rest of the Charlie Fry series. I know it's been mentioned but the 13 storey treehouse boxset was on the book people's website at a really good price.

I'm reading The Boy At The Back of the Class to my Ds's 7 and 11 at the moment. (They are both capable of reading it themselves and have at times but enjoy a story from me). It's a great book.

My 11 year old also enjoys the my brother is a superhero series. (my dd9 is currently starting them).

Just thought of another series that went down a storm with that age grp boys. The 13 storey treehouse. Then the 26,39, 52 storey etc etc.

DS is 9. Also likes comedies and has read similar to your DS. He is currently enjoying book of norm series and terry pratchett books.

He read and enjoyed boy in back of glass. Also London eye mystery and “sequel” Guggenheim mystery. And brother is a superhero series. Also Louis sachar.

He wasn’t keen on either Alex Ryder or Percy Jackson series.

I really love the Charlie Higson Enemy series - there are maybe 7 or 8 of them. They're about a plague that kills adults and leaves gangs of kids roaming the streets fighting off zombies. They're gory and scary but also very funny, and very British.

He may also like the Alex Scarrow Timeriders series - they're about team of time travelling teens who have to save time from bad guys who want to meddle with it.
