Boarding School type stories for dd

DD (8) has finished reading Malory Tower, The Naughtiest Girl and St Clare's as well as The L'Etoile series.

She is really into the whole boarding school story setting.

Can anyone recommend any other good reads, which take place at BS?

Oh She has read the first 4 Harry Potter stories too.

Any recommendations would be great!

Re the chalet school books, are the female (and male?) characters very gender stereotypical? Empowering or not for girls?

Good question! I don't really remember the details/language used, but I did remember that a lot of the Chalet School girls were what used to be referred to in the 1950s Girls Annuals my grandma used to get for me in charity shops as "plucky"...there were a lot of adventures, bareback horseriding, thwarting of thieves and the like. I might dig some out and read them from a 21st century perspective!
