By reading, singing, dancing and playing, everyone is having so much fun that they don’t realise how clever they are being! Join Monkey and Mo and explore the magical world of music with your child.

Published by pre-school specialist Campbell Books and based on the award-winning Monkey Music classes, Let’s Sing and Play is full of ideas on how to make music with your toddler.

You can use the CD with the book, separately, or even, when you know the songs… not at all!

Music has always been part of our lives - my mum and both my sisters teach piano so all the children in the family have joined in with singalongs round the piano over the years!

aimeecmp · 09/09/2016 11:04

My 18 month old has been listening to "Rockabye Baby" tunes to get to sleep since day dot. We also have heart on during the weekends for a dance; she loves dancing with me and her sister! Grin

we sing together all the time even turning every day tasks like brushing hair into a song

We usually have the radio on during daytime when we're in so little ones have always had music around them, they have a selection of instruments and we all play along to certain songs and dance around. I think if you join in then your babies are more likely to enjoy it too and it's great bonding time.

We brought his a ELC player so he could play back his own tapes of him making 'Music??' with his little brother!

I always have music on in my house. Myself and my partner listen to rock and metal and my partner plays in a band. We try to incorporate musical instruments into their development and let them touch and play with the instruments if they want to.

My 2 were bought a lovely wooden music set of percussion instruments when they were quite little and they join in with nursery rhymes or make up their own tunes with them.

melonpanini · 10/09/2016 00:05

My daughter and I used to listen to music together all the time and sing.

Beautifulmind20 · 10/09/2016 13:45

We played memory game with music. Ring a bell/shaker/maracas to make-sound without showing to my 2 year old and asked her to identify which one making that music.

And we ring the bell number of times and asked my 4 year to tell how many time I ring the bell .
With those game , we are engarage the listening and counting skills.

By surrounding them with music and playing with them, encouraging them to join in with the beat

KarenCBC · 11/09/2016 19:26

Music is very important in our house, it's always on and I'm always singing. When DS was tiny I made shakers using plastic bottles and rice or lentils. Two years later he still has these along with a large selection of other instruments, homemade and bought. He loves to play them while making up songs or singing along to whatever is on. He's currently obsessed with Michael Jackson!

CathBookworm · 11/09/2016 20:44

Radio on, then a bit of dancing in the kitchen. Or we play Just Dance on the Wii along with older brother and all sing along too.

caroll1234 · 12/09/2016 20:20

buckley1983 · 12/09/2016 22:54

The background to any journey in the car is a nursery rhyme CD! We have a whole range & OH & I can often be found randomly humming a tune off of one of them! They soothed LO from a very young age & he still enjoys it now. A friend bought LO a CD of songs featuring his name, which he LOVES! I'm told he enjoys singing in circle time at nursery, but he get shy singing at home & he HATES hearing me sing!! If I started joining in in the car, he will tell me to stop immediately! I try not to be offended!

We have lots of musical instruments in our house, both real and toy so my children are used to lots of music. Plus we love to sing and dance generally. My children are already showing musical aptitude just because it's been a part of their lives from birth (and probably before).

windowmouse · 17/09/2016 15:18
