Published by pre-school specialist Campbell Books and based on the award-winning Monkey Music classes, Let’s Sing and Play is full of ideas on how to make music with your toddler.

You can use the CD with the book, separately, or even, when you know the songs… not at all!

If you couple the music with lights and/or movement, that helps

It doesn't take much to engage the little ones with music. Music has been playing since day 1 - from musical baby bouncers, musical toys and now tv.

It's always a source of fun and laughter with a sing song and a dance.

We go to rhyme time twice a week at the library, where we sing songs and play instruments, wave scarves, etc. It's really engaging. We also use song in many things we do, whether it's swimming, when out in the car, in the bath or in town. I always have the radio on at home, which my son seems to really enjoy.

I listened to classical music when my toddler was in my tummy and my husband sings to her and plays guitar. She loves music and dancing along and knows lots of actions to nursery rhymes. She's 21 months and has just started to sing along as well Smile

We get out the big box of musical instruments and put on a nursery rhyme cd and play along to the music. Or we sing nursery rhymes loudly! This is often quite head ache inducing especially if I've been up all night with the baby but my three year old adores music so the louder the better....after a coffee Grin

My nine month old granddaughter loves her little set of musical instruments- tambourine, rattle etc and joins in any music playing. She loves playing duets with her mum on the piano as well!

We have lots of musical instruments in our house, both real and toy so my children are used to lots of music. Plus we love to sing and dance generally. My children are already showing musical aptitude just because it's been a part of their lives from birth (and probably before).

The background to any journey in the car is a nursery rhyme CD! We have a whole range & OH & I can often be found randomly humming a tune off of one of them! They soothed LO from a very young age & he still enjoys it now. A friend bought LO a CD of songs featuring his name, which he LOVES! I'm told he enjoys singing in circle time at nursery, but he get shy singing at home & he HATES hearing me sing!! If I started joining in in the car, he will tell me to stop immediately! I try not to be offended!

Radio on, then a bit of dancing in the kitchen. Or we play Just Dance on the Wii along with older brother and all sing along too.

Music is very important in our house, it's always on and I'm always singing. When DS was tiny I made shakers using plastic bottles and rice or lentils. Two years later he still has these along with a large selection of other instruments, homemade and bought. He loves to play them while making up songs or singing along to whatever is on. He's currently obsessed with Michael Jackson!

By surrounding them with music and playing with them, encouraging them to join in with the beat

We played memory game with music. Ring a bell/shaker/maracas to make-sound without showing to my 2 year old and asked her to identify which one making that music.
And we ring the bell number of times and asked my 4 year to tell how many time I ring the bell .
With those game , we are engarage the listening and counting skills.

My 2 were bought a lovely wooden music set of percussion instruments when they were quite little and they join in with nursery rhymes or make up their own tunes with them.
