With summer in full swing, we’ve rounded up a list of most recommended audiobooks for surviving long car journeys with kids.

We’d like to keep this page updated so if we’ve missed your favourite audiobook, share it on this thread with reasons why you and your family liked it.

Swallows and Amazons series - working our way through all of them and being enjoyed by whole family.

Wakes - I was going to say Swallows and Amazons too! We're on to Pigeon Post this week (although I'm not sure that Nancy and Peggy and Mrs Blackett would have had Northumbrian accents).

We've also enjoyed Chris Hadfield's autobiography An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth

David Walliams for sure ..The worlds worst children and the awful auntie are particularly hilarious

Pigeon Post of Swallows and Amazons was one of my favourites - that and Winter Holiday. I got very involved with 'We Didn't Mean to go to Sea' and repeatedly kept saying to the DCs, how old are they? how old?! We've just finished Missee Lee, which was a bit odd, but still good.

DCs can occassionally come out with archaic exclamations - barbequed billygoats being a favourite....
