I need a list of very popular/famous children's books that have equally well-known (and distinctive) pictures, for a project I'm working on, and I'm stuck!
So far I have:
Winnie the Pooh
The Tiger Who Came To Tea
Room on the Broom
Elmer the Elephant

There must be more, can anyone think of any? Much appreciated Grin

Raymond Briggs books

Superb, thank you!
Can't believe I didn't think of some of these but you know how sometimes your mind just goes blank.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is
perfect, exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for.
Can't believe I forgot The Gruffalo.
Alice in Wonderland also good.

It needs to be recognisable fairly internationally.

Oooh more replies, thank you!
Comics are ok too. I've got Peanuts / Charlie Brown as it needs to be suitable/appropriate for younger children.
