My older DH is reading 'Nation' - fantastic story, I've read it too.
My SE is having Farmer Duck, then the ebook Slippy the Slimy Slug!
I'm going to settle with a cup of tea (or a glass of wine), then look at my 'Now' magazine.

What are you all reading?

Lemony Snicket with DD - we're up to The Miserable Mill.

Expect it will be Loveykins by Quentin Blake for the third night in a row with DS!

I've just started 'War & Peace' - wish me luck...

Takver · 15/08/2012 20:28

Just started Moonfleet as a bedtime story for dd. We've been reading various Gerald Durrell books for ages - I like them, but glad to have a change!

DD's just finished a graphic novel version of the second Artemis Fowl book - it was an accidental order from the library (she meant to order the normal book) but she says it was pretty good. I'm half way through "End this Depression Now" but have diverged into some Robin Hobb for light relief Grin

Sirzy · 15/08/2012 20:30

The gruffalo and the very hungry caterpillar tonight.

SkiBumMum · 15/08/2012 20:33

Follow the Swallow (Julia Donaldson), two Little Red Train stories and an Amelia Bedelia for DD1. That's not my Bear and Hungry Caterpillar for DD2. The Girl in Times Square (Paulina Simmons) for me. A

DD had Squirrel Nutkin at bedtime. Not that she has gone to sleep and is now sitting on the sofa 'reading' (she's 2) a pamphlet called How to raise a healthy cat. Hmm.

I am off night time reading because I stay up too late, but I do have a trashy book that I'm looking forward to starting.

ChoccyJules · 15/08/2012 20:44

DD had 'Peppa Meets the Queen (2012 special title) AGAIN and Jesus Calms the Storm AGAIN

I have just started 'Amsterdam' by Ian McEwan, left behind by a family member.

verona · 15/08/2012 20:47

Read The Borrowers Afield to my two DSs and finished it.
I'm reading Jaws

TheFallenMadonna · 15/08/2012 20:48

DS (11) is reading The Hour, which is about someone trying to break a cycling record, and has a fair bit of inappropriate language apparently Blush

DH was reading The Hour before DS stole it and is filling in with the New Scientist until he gets it back.

DD (8) is reading a Worst Witch book, not sure which one.

I am reading Stranger House by Reginald Hill.

downbythewater · 15/08/2012 20:49

The DDs chose Princess Polly's Potty and Stickman tonight.

I just finished Rites by Sophie Columbeau and now have nothing to read!

Choccy, Amsterdam is awesome, as is anything by Ian McEwan actually. Looking forward to his new one.

ginmakesitallok · 15/08/2012 20:52

DD2(2) had gruffalo and some Dora nonsense read to her. DD1 (8) is reading The Magic of Reality by Richard Dawkins.....

ginmakesitallok · 15/08/2012 20:53

oh and I'm reading How I won the yellow jumper

chocolateshoes · 15/08/2012 20:55

DS (7) is reading Charlie & the Great Glass Elevator.

I'm reading Alone in Berlin

BirdyBedtime · 15/08/2012 20:56

With DS (3.7) I read Katie Morag and the 2 Grandmothers (which DD was very put out about because it's her library book!) and with DD (7) we read a bit of the Usborne Puzzle Balloon Race book.

I've just downloaded The Choiring of the Trees to my Kindle so am planning to start that when I go to bed.

PatTheHammer · 15/08/2012 20:58

I have just finished reading the first 'Worst Witch' book with DD (6)........ forgotten how much I loved them when I was little. And also how much JKR must have robbed loads of ideas from them!Grin

DS (3) opted for The Hungry Caterpillar tonight.

Me- Some free crime thriller from the kindle, read so many lately they are merging into one. It features a scottish detective who is currently the suspect in the murder he was investigating. Its ok for a freebie.

wearymum200 · 15/08/2012 20:59

Ds1 (6) is reading book 6 of the Ranger's apprentice series; dd2 (3) has Katie Morag and Tim and Lucy go to sea. I am laughing over Jasper Fforde's latest Thursday next book.

NorbertDentressangle · 15/08/2012 21:00

DS is reading Stig of the Dump

DD is reading Toms Midnight

I'm lowering the tone by reading 50 Shades Wink (in my defence someone gave it to me when they finished it so I thought I'd see what the fuss is about ...honest!)

PartialToACupOfMilo · 15/08/2012 21:00

Have just read the Usborne Nativity book and Guess How Much I Love You to dd (2.8 - chosen by her) and once I've written my risk assessment for the upcoming German exchange trip I'm going to start a new Peter James on the kindle :)

EyeoftheStorm · 15/08/2012 21:02

DS2: Iggle Piggle Lost his blanket

DD1: Five on a Treasure Island (I'd forgotten how much George hates being a girl and there's an awful lot of twinkling between her and Julian)

DS1: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (almost at the end and I'm wondering how he's going to react to what happens to Cedric Diggory)

Me: Orb Sceptre Throne by Ian Esslemont (nothing like a meaty fantasy of an evening)

I must have read out loud for about an hour and a half tonight. Need some wine.
