...who has done Ottoline, Mr. Gum, Horrid Henry, "How to train/feed/potty-train your dragon", Roald Dahl, History Spies, Enid Blyton, biographies. Looking for Christmas books. Not Harry Potter or anything to do with beasts, underpants or wimpy kids.

Forgot to say, she likes book series, and I do to because I can then ask Grandparents and Aunts to buy a book in a series.

I'm Alice, I Think by Susan Juby. The main character is a very funny, smart, quirky young teenager growing up in a remote Canadian town. I think it's a series of two or three novels nows. Would be great for a matureish 10 year old.

The Molly Moon series? My dd is 8 but she was recommended them by her 10 y/o friend.

They are definitely quirky - in fact downright bizarre from a quick flip - and according to dd very funny.

lovecheese · 23/11/2010 19:53

I love MN! Keep them coming.
