What is everyone without kids up to this Easter . Lots of talk of Easter egg hunts for the children but not in this house .

Friday am off to a nice restaurant for friends birthday meal then home for a relaxing evening
Saturday off for long beach walk with another friend and our dogs followed by a pub meal
Sunday around to mum's for presents / chocolate eggs and roast with all the trimmings and bottle of something lovely
Mon been invited for country dog walk but am hoping to get into the garden if dry .

How's everyone spending the weekend.

If the weather's OK, mainly gardening. If wet or too cold, curling up on the sofa and watching films.

ilovesooty · 27/03/2024 08:07

I'm not doing anything different to what I'd usually do. I'm pet sitting on Sunday for a friend while she and her husband are at the football.

Carry on with plans for flat decorating project, might tackle the front garden which looks awful after the wet winter, eat hot cross buns. Sanding the bathroom walls has been shelved as I looked at them and though 'I really can't face that this weekend.' Look to see if local stately home is open for a wander with a side trip to the nearby garden centre.

I might buy some expensive chocolate, as well.

Knitting if wet, walking if dry. Can't wait - four days off work with nothing in the diary.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 27/03/2024 09:35

The usual. It’s a weekend like any other. So, cleaning and other stuff, a walk or swim and possibly decorating.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 27/03/2024 09:53

I might buy some expensive chocolate, as well.

Wait a week and get it half price.

BarrelOfOtters · 27/03/2024 09:56

Going to see family. A lot of travelling...it'll mostly be dog walking, bit of shopping in shops I don't have at home, and some nice food. Shame the weather is so poor!

Twice as much for the same money! 😀

Family meal with DM and stepdad, seeing family friend with them on Good Friday for Easter lunch which will be nice.

Might see DM and stepdad over Easter but will hopefully see a friend who usually works over Easter but isn't doing this, this Easter!

Grown up chocolate will be consumed.

Grown up chocolate will be consumed.

Along with a modicum of wine.

Plan is gardening Saturday. Parents coming for lunch on Sunday. Probably just chilling on Monday, but it depends on the weather and how much progress we make on the garden.

CrushingOnRubies · 27/03/2024 18:56

DIY, spa day, maybe cinema. Spending some time with our parents

StressyMessyJess · 28/03/2024 09:36

Baby sitting 7yr old nephew tomorrow, hopefully he'll just play computer games with my partner.
Baking a cake for my partners birthday on Saturday, then drinks in the evening with friends.
Will be trying to avoid the cake/chocolate as much as possible as I'm (permanently)trying to diet.
Looking forward to child free lie ins and laziness!

Churchview · 28/03/2024 10:18

I spent yesterday cooking lots of home made ready meals and puddings so that I won't have to spend all weekend cooking for my guests. On Sunday we're going to spend the day at a flea market.

CleanShirt · 28/03/2024 14:40

Going to my parents in Scotland tomorrow. Dinner with dad tomorrow night, day out with my brother on Saturday to get tattoos then all of us out in the evening, then I'm cooking for everyone on easter Sunday.

My brother and I are doing an easter egg hunt for our parents 😂

Just on Sunday, early (for me.... 9am lol) walk on the prom at nearby seaside town. Empty at that time and cafes open when finished for a nice coffee and whatever. Home then to laze around if wet, or do something in the garden if dry.

I kind of dread long weekends and Easter especially. Everywhere seems to be overrun with people, dogs, kids and their baggage. The traffic is awful and most places are packed with people and kids, as I said! Nothing against kids, but when you don't have any places crowded with kids is not for me!

The rest of the weekend will be half heartedly going through bedroom cupboards and drawers to sort out, but will probably leave it halfway through the first ten minutes for something a lot more pleasant!

Have a nice break everyone, whatever you do, or don't do!

Hosting friends, visiting family, a couple of lazy days with the cat.

NoBunnyHome · 28/03/2024 15:16

Walk, coffee, garden, lunch, walk, movie, dinner, chocolate and wine

Over and over. Sometimes with family visitors Grin

hopscotcher · 28/03/2024 15:33

I'm off to Madrid for a few days to explore - never been there.

Oh lovely. I’m off to Belgium & Italy once the school holidays are over, so busy making plans for that too.

Madrid is awesome! Very jealous. Really cool city.

Quizine · 28/03/2024 16:38

It is great that those of us not tied to school hols (sorry teachers!) can travel during school terms.

Madrid for me also in May for a couple of days (been before), then to Segovia, Valladolid, Salamanca, Avila and back to Madrid. Using coach and train and have 10 days. Looking forward to it, Spain away from the Costas is an amazing country.

Isn’t it! Cheaper & quieter. And most of my team are parents so it works out nicely.
