Only just back from work so I missed the big launch. 😁A huge thank you to @hebemumsnet and MNHQ for creating this board, and also to everyone who contributed to the request thread, both parents and non-parents.

I would say "thank you to everyone who contributed constructively" as there were posters who certainly did not.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 07/06/2023 18:41

Seconded. Although those who weren’t constructive may have indirectly helped demonstrate the need for the board!

That is a good point. I hadn't thought about it that way.

Paperlate · 07/06/2023 18:46

Us and them already then 🙄

Florissante · 07/06/2023 18:48

Not from the side of those who wanted the thread, no.

Daleksatemyshed · 07/06/2023 18:57

I didn't see this being debated so well done to those of you who made it happen.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/06/2023 19:01

I'm glad it exists like "sorry you seem to be so superior and narrow that you seem think my health difficulties bar me from talking about books and telly with other women...this actually might be your issue not mine"

You can hide this board or just not comment. I don't comment on the parenting forum or related threads.

There seems to be a school of thought that MNers are forced to participate in threads rather than doing what you do, ie posting in threads that are interesting or relevant to them.

I missed the debate too, but well done to everyone who pushed for this section. And thank you to MNHQ for making it happen. Being child free, I've often felt like a fraud on MN.

coeurnoir · 07/06/2023 19:39

Glad this was agreed by mnhq. If it’s ok I might lurk - I have children who will remain childfree, and a sister who is childless (but describes herself as childfree now). So would like to hear about your experiences and how I can help.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 07/06/2023 19:45

Please do @coeurnoir, you’re very welcome!

coeurnoir · 07/06/2023 19:46

Thank you @musixa @fitzwilliamdarcy

But please don't stop posting elsewhere 🥳

barnefri · 07/06/2023 21:22

I’m so happy that this board has arrived! Thank you millions MNHQ!🤗

Ineedwinenow · 07/06/2023 23:13

Yey! A place to post where we won’t have posters keep asking what we are doing on mumsnet! Well done! Definitely happy for lurkers , the more the merrier Grin

Wednesdaysotherchild · 07/06/2023 23:27

Hurray!

You are more than welcome to participate as long as it's in the spririt of the thread! And that goes for everyone.

RampantIvy · 08/06/2023 22:57

I'm a parent, and am glad this board has been created. I love DD who was an unexpected surprise at 41, and I have never been able to identify with women who keep wanting to have baby after baby.

So, I hope you don't mind if I lurk from time to time.

Florissant · 08/06/2023 23:00

No one milnds if you lurk - or even participate - but posts about children are not in the spirit of the thread.

RampantIvy · 08/06/2023 23:25

Fine by me. DD is an adult now and has absolutely no intention of ever having DC. There is more to life than having babies.
