been talking to a lovely nanny about doing three days a week when i go back part time and she says she normally has four weeks' paid leave a year. the thing is, dh and i (both work at same place) get six weeks' hol a year plus eight lieu days, so what happens on the extra weeks when we are off - do we just agree that she doesn't work and doesn't get paid??? put like that it sounds unreasonable but on the other hand why would you expect your hol quota to nearly double?

and what would happen at a nursery? do you have to pay every week it's open even if you are on holiday? this is a whole new world and i'm stumbling along trying to find out how it works!

blue green - to me as she doesnt work with a contract (illegal) this to me means she isnt a professional nanny

why would a professional nanny agree to work without one?

just as any nanny who knows about nanny insurance but doesnt have also isnt professional - out of curoisty does she have any?

yes apparently some nannies can be se,tho generally not if they work perm for a family

a se person choses their hours/days and when they want to work

a family with a nanny obv needs the nanny to be there on regular days/hours and sure would not be impressed if the nanny decided not to go into work that day (and if se in thoery she could say no)

You might need some holiday days spare so you can take time off if Nanny is sick.
