I have a dilemna, I have been feeling crap since yesterday evening..very sore throat, mild headache, bad stomac, diahorea , body aches, 38 degrees temp, I feel bad. Dont think it's the big one but clearly a bug !

I have a 9 month old with me, should I send him home in order to limit the risk of contagion or shall I wait for tonight ?

Scottish you are very very harsh, just hard a very sore throat this morning and tiredness. Would you not turn up at work for that ?? I'm not greedy and I put the children before me...I have started to feel more tired at around 2, dodgy stomach but could be something I ate ? And the temp because I was running around the kids ? The reason I asked for advice is that the mum has started work last week. I'm just feeling bad to let her down. I'm sick, maybe because due of stress ?? Maybe ?? I dont want to look like an hypocondriac or someone who is skiving...Yes you are right, she should complain to ofsted and maybe they should take off my registration while they are at it.

Summerfruit · 28/07/2009 15:03

Oh god you are awful Scottish, I'm not going back on my words, that's how I was feeling overall after I just took the paracetamol around 2. I was just scared of fussing too much...And yes I had kids last week who had a 24 hours bug, let me tell you the parents are not rushing to get their kids...38 degress is mild temp.

Summerfruit · 28/07/2009 15:06

Alright, with my first post, it looks like I have been experiencing these symptoms since yesterday and I apologize for confusing you..I should have said it got worst by 2 o'clock but it's still mild.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 28/07/2009 15:08

Summer - Call the parents and go and lie down. You probably do have swine flu or similar.

Don't think you were backtracking at all.

It is so hard when you are in a job when other people depend on you and you only to sometimes decide when to cancel. I think swine flu has just brought out so much uncertainty in how to deal with things like illness. A few weeks ago this thread would have looked a bit different.
I know when I get ill I try and soldier on otherwise so many people get cancelled and I know they will not be happy at all about it. Sometimes I even get abuse for it, like I should never get ill and let other people down. But I guess this not the time to think like that.

And as a parent I would not even remotely be angry with you about the way you have dealt with this. (Unless you don't pick up the phone now!)

jesus wept is this a CM all stick together thang, and to hell with commonsense

aGalChangedHerName · 28/07/2009 15:13

Reckless?? lol

Summerfruit · 28/07/2009 15:14

Called the mum, got answering machine and left a message...thanks agal and brad. She upset me, she was harsh.

Ripeberry · 28/07/2009 15:15

The OP should not have accepted the child this morning and should have rung or texted that evening.
If it is SF then it can come on VERY suddenly and i'm sure the OP is not a greedy person, no CM would want to harm their mindees.
Scottishmummy, you must have had some bad experience with CMs at some time and maybe for you a nursery is the best place for your child, but language like that is uncalled for.
I have reported your post as it was far too personal.
The OP needs to get the parents over to collect NOW and of course if it is SF, she cannot accept anyone for at least 7 days.
Get yourself some Tamiflu and i hope you get better soon.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 28/07/2009 15:16

I'm not a CM, just someone who recognises that you may feel a bit ropey one minute and rough the next and it is not always easy to know when to make the call.

scottishmummy · 28/07/2009 15:18

op i dont believe you, your account is inconsistent and you changed major details when challenged

i dont use CM (never have),and this doesnt do their reputation any good either

hobbgoblin · 28/07/2009 15:21

agree totally with scottishmummy - temp from running around, tummy upset from something you ate? You numpty.

Where's your risk management skills? Sounds like you may not have any.

I'd be absolutely hopping if you were minding my DC.

Crikey. Numpty, Dingbat and Tit on one thread!!

I would guess OP has learned a good lesson from all this. Hope you and your mindee are all ok.

Summerfruit · 28/07/2009 15:26

hobb - I have good risk assessment thank you !!! Just spoked to the mum and described my symptoms, her answer was , do you think you can wait until 6 ? Me, yes I think I can. Mum : Call me if you feel you cant cope anymore..Some of you are just plain harsh..did you only read my other posts ??

franklymydear · 28/07/2009 15:27

I'm agog and aghast and rather amused by the black and white and totally one-dimensionally enraged posts on here. It's fabulous! Keep it up. Can you give me a nudge when the thread turns into the issues with nursery care?

hobbgoblin · 28/07/2009 15:27

You got to admit that sm is right about the back tracking and the sheer idiocy, even if she is a little, erm, vociferous on the matter.

If OP had a medical qualification then that'd excuse the ridiculous self diagnosis erring on the side of non existent caution. I'm assuming she doesn't in which case she is taking a risk with someone else's child.

franklymydear · 28/07/2009 15:29

What's the position with a mother with similar symptoms caring for their child?

scottishmummy · 28/07/2009 15:30

oh must mind etiquette when discussing cross infecting the children.heavens to betsy

always good to pass on fond felicitations to the CM with diahorrea who minds a 9month baby. make sure she is ok,eh

MovingOutOfBlighty · 28/07/2009 15:30

I think it is fascinating to hear about what the mum wants to do. Pick up at 6.
Only do that if you are well enough Summer. Personally, for the sake of the baby and yourself I think you should call it a day.

Summerfruit · 28/07/2009 15:30

SM - For fuck sake, you make it sound as if I have said, I have abused my 9 month old mindee ? Is it ok ??? You are a complete idiot yourself ! Do I care, you don't believe me ??? You are really narrow minded, really but I guess you'll be please to know I'm feeling a bit better, paracetamol did the trick ? Bet, you must be that kind of person who doesn't go to work as soon as you do a bad parp...

Ripeberry · 28/07/2009 15:30

This gives a whole new meaning to 'Partnership with Parents' Who fired the first shot

aGalChangedHerName · 28/07/2009 15:31

So Summerfruit, mum wants you to keep working till 6pm eh? Gosh i do hope you don't infect your little mindee.

PuppyMonkey · 28/07/2009 15:32

Arf at mother's response after all that!!!
