Quiet morning for me - well, until 9am anyway

NumberFour · 24/11/2008 07:22

Morning! All systems go in #4 household but keyboard playing up and won't type letters!!!

Must wait til it warms up!

mumsanutter · 24/11/2008 07:28

Morning, mums had a lay in until 7am today - why can't they do this at the weekend. So instead of the usual fighting that occurs now, it is quiet as they eat their breakfast - lovely.

No4, reboot your pc, my keboard mucked about the other week and once I rebooted the pc everything was fine. Dh said its something about the usb connection????

london11 · 24/11/2008 07:33

Morning everyone

Shoshe - are you ready for your visit from the lovely I.....don't forget and go out will you!

I do believe I have managed to wake up, get up and eat some breakfast with no vomiting and just the tiniest icky feeling!! Maybe the MS is on its way out, yayyyyyy.

Hope you all have a good day.

mumlove · 24/11/2008 08:04

Good morning everyone.

I really didn't want to get up this morning as was all cosy in bed! Why did I have to get up at 7am yesterday because it was 1 of those mornings that my eyes were awake and I cannot just lie there.

Doing the school run and then off to CM drop in to play.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday .

shoshe · 24/11/2008 08:13

SammyK · 24/11/2008 10:01

Hi everyone

I got a cheeky lie in this morning, mindee's mum text me just before my alarm went off to say not coming today so delayed getting up for an hour!

have a good day all

mumsanutter · 24/11/2008 10:47

Next time I type that its lovely here, please shoot me. Got back from taking ds3 to nursery and gave ds4 a shower and he is covered in spots - looks like he has come out with the chicken pox - so a very boring week ahead with no groups or anything - great!!!

shoshe · 24/11/2008 11:01

Guess what ..........She didnt come

hi guys, just sorting my planning out. I do long term planning and monthly type planning do you have to do weekly? I've been at this all weekend and really don't know what I'm doing now!!

AbbaFan · 24/11/2008 11:36

Hi all

mums - poor you, I hate being housebound.

I have a very quiet day today. However I only have 2 days to finish off my Unit 4, as need to hand it in on Wednesday, and I am so not ready!

PAPERFREEK · 24/11/2008 12:23

My planning just consist of a diary where I note down anything that is coming up in the next year - kids birthdays, festivals, school holidays, school trips, nursery activities such as days out where they may need parents to supply stuff, etc.

I also write down if I think I may need cover from other minders such as my holidays, appointments etc.

Short term I write in the diary if I need to have anything ready for the above; birthday presents, materials for activities around festivals, extra resources out if it is a school holday and I have more children, outings I may take the children on.

This lot can fill a forward plan diary leaving the day to day planning free to accomodate child led activities with some adult led bits added to make sure I cover all 6 areas of learning at some point over the week.

I dont plan ahead for specific activities like in the old days where I would put in something like in July we will cover water safety or in autumn colours as this is not what the eyfs is about.

No littlies at the moment - time to myself ahhh!

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 13:27

Hi everyone, sounds like you're all having good days, so far . Can anyone advise me, which is best for contracts and paperwork, Morton Michel or NCMA? Apart from the price there doesn't seem to be much difference but there must be a reason that MM is so much cheaper. Sorry to hijack your nice quiet staffroom but no one is responding to my post. Any help would be much appreciated

mumsanutter · 24/11/2008 13:35

Hello minesamonkey - I am afraid that I dont really know what the difference is. I have always used NCMA, and didn't know that MM was about until last year. Would be interested in the reply to this as well!!

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 13:40

Just started getting a few responses, CM's must all have been in bed when I posted! All I've gathered so far is that with MM, you can use your own contracts. Don't think I'd know where to start there though!

shoshe · 24/11/2008 13:53

You get legal representation with NCMA, don't know if you do with MM.

And Welcome to the Staff Room MAM (did you bring cakes???)

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 14:04

Thanks Shoshe. I always have cakes in the cupboard but today you're in luck as I have fresh chocolate eclairs, any takers?

KatyMac · 24/11/2008 14:15

Poor DD

She was off all last week with a chest infection & asthma and she went back to school today & has been sent home throwing up

Poor poppet - she wa ill on her birthday on Friday & I moved her school birthday lunch to today......and now she can't have it

So the children she invited are having it & we will rebook it for when she is better

So she is feeling very sorry for herself and demanding food every 2 minutes

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 14:28

Ah bless her hope she's better soon so she can celebrate her birthday properly

PinkChick · 24/11/2008 16:08

Has anyone seen the new stickers from NCMA?????????..EYFS stickers each with a 'sign/logo' on showing the different themes so we can write our obs and instead of blathering on about it linking with learning and development etc...we just sticka sticker next to it!!...Me likey!!

KatyMac · 24/11/2008 17:24

Sounds interesting - I'll have a look

Help - would you take on a 16mo without settling in period? I feel very shaky about it - is it appropriate to get the mum to sign to say it's against my better judgement? Or is that daft?

shoshe · 24/11/2008 17:44

Katy I have taken most of mine without a settling in period, a lot have moved over from Germany/Cyprus, arriving just days before Mum and Dad have to be at work, to be honest it has worked out fine, but them they have all come from other childcare, so are used to it.

Hmm - maybe by virtue of their parentage/lifestyle they are more resilient/coping
