i have found out that my childminder has been getting one of the other mums to drive my son back from the school that she takes the other children to,she says he is a slow walker and it is much quicker this way he is only 3 yrs old she walks back with my other son in the buggy she then sits and has tea with the other mum till she goes to work i dont mind the tea bit but i dont see why my son has to be rushed back just so she can have a cup of tea i am worried because he is supposed to be in her care also he is not in a booster seat in the childminders car is this right and one last moan the only place my childminder takes my children is on scholl runs ok finished now can i have your thoughts please.

oke doke

my ds is 9 years

I was only reading and copying what what on mine

I am sorry

There is no way I want the total of my registration anyway so perhaps that is why I havent asked to increase mine.

Whenn I had 2 babies I got written permission from parents and ofsted beforehand

I think whatever her numbers on certificate she is not a good childminder

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 17:45

sorry I was never saying that you ever work illegally

my goodness the last thing I want to do is upset you

please forgive me if that is how it came accross

KatieMac · 04/02/2005 17:56

Don't worry RTKM I know you are only concerned for emy1 and her children but you have been very veherment (sp) about the numbers and it is usually a total of 6 under 5

So her C/mer whilst acting illegally in the matter of the car and the unescourted lifts/car seat etc - may never have actually over minded.

I haven't taken offense so don't worry

And I am glad that emy1 has rethought her childcare situation and reported the minder for the car/car seat situation as that is very serious

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 18:02

good glad I havent upset you

I have just re read the list and she is over

1 x 9 month old

1 x 3 year old

2 x 4 year old

so that makes 4 children under 5 years doesnt it????

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 18:03

oh dear I am getting really confused now

Yep 4 yo's attending school (not nursery) am's and pm's (should they have apostrophies??) count as 5 yo's for your numbers.
Emy1 never said that she had all of them at once.
I could never have all of mine at once but
x comes on mon & fri
y comes mon & Wed
z comes Tue & Fri
so I could actually fit in
1 on tues
1 on wed
2 on thurs

and only fill 2 f/t places - so potentially 6 or 7 children and 2 spaces

as long as one was over 8 - there is no problem with Ofsted.

I could have my twins (aged 15 months) j aged 2 DD aged 7, Best friend aged 7, c aged 5 and m aged 10. I can do that afterschool.....but wouldn't volunteer for all day in the holidays.

emy1 · 04/02/2005 18:44

hi she has all under 4 yrs 4 days a week after 1130 then all the other children including mine when school finishes which i guess is 300

happymumof2

to be honest i dont think she has put my 9 month down on her records it did seem fishy when she told me she couldnt have in at all in dec then i found out her inspection was due that month

my boys are 3 and 9 months
she never used to be like this she used to take them out my son would tell me all the places they had been then she took on another little girl that she had previously and all seemed to change she is very close to the little girls mum she treats her like a daughter which is fine but i felt my boys were being shut out

She could have a variation to her numbers but as OFSTED now know they can look into it

How are you going to handle it with her that you have reported her? Are you going to tell her, or wait for her to get the call from the authorities? be prepared - won't she immediately refuse to have your kids? You could tell her you rang to make an inquiry about your rights re the other Mum etc. have you got any friends ort relatives who could come and help out for a bit?
I think it's v brave that you have reported her, and the right thing - but it might not be best for you to be relying on her when the proverbial hits the fan.

bonkerz · 04/02/2005 20:51

Another problem could arise if she is not declaring your 9 mth old to OFSTED then she isnt declaring the money she gets paid for your 9 mth old either and if you are claiming childcare tax credit for your child then at some point the discrepancy will come to light (IR will realise u claiming money for childcare but childminding not declaring it so one of you is commiting fraud!) hope that makes sense!
