i have found out that my childminder has been getting one of the other mums to drive my son back from the school that she takes the other children to,she says he is a slow walker and it is much quicker this way he is only 3 yrs old she walks back with my other son in the buggy she then sits and has tea with the other mum till she goes to work i dont mind the tea bit but i dont see why my son has to be rushed back just so she can have a cup of tea i am worried because he is supposed to be in her care also he is not in a booster seat in the childminders car is this right and one last moan the only place my childminder takes my children is on scholl runs ok finished now can i have your thoughts please.

I echo everything else that has already been said.
Please report her to OFSTED.
I would never let a childminded child go with someone else in a car

Oh and it IS possible to do other things in-between school runs - most childminders manage it at least some of the time.
I know it isn't ideal for you, but for instance I mind one child (1) whose sister goes to a nursery for now as I couldn't take both children. It is difficult but it sounds like you are unhappy too and you need to look at ways out of this situation

If she can't look after your child properly because of all the school runs, she hasn't got the right mix of kids, and shouldn't have taken them all on!

I am not on public lists because I only work for families from DH school

But the best way to find a good childminder is to ask your friends

word of mouth

BUT dont be pressured into because they like her you should

people have different standards and critirera

happymumof2

she has 11 on her books the most she has at one time 7 which one of those is 9

god this is so hard for me i know she is doing wrong i need to pull my self together and confront her . the other mums seem to think she is great but their children are alot older

is she in scotland or england?

over 8 years old dont count [within reason]

so what are the others ages?

Is she by herself?

Or does she have an ofsted approved assistant?

This is copied off my ofsted certificate.

We ahve to display these at all times what does hers say?

It can be changed but only with written permission etc.

no more than 5 children under 8 years; of these, not more than 3 may be under 5 years, and of these, not more than 1 may be under 1 year at any one time.

Blu · 04/02/2005 15:33

I would ask SimplyChildcare if they cover Crawley. It does cost about £30 but you get access to childcare professionals who, like RTKM are not on council lists.

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 15:33

please read my last sentance because I think she is breaking the law with her numbers

I feel really bad for you though

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 15:35

Hang on RTKM if she has 7 and 1 is 9 then she can be within her numbers.

She could have 3 under 5
3 5 to 8yo's
and 1 9yo

So she could be within her numbers

However I would be careful with 7 by myself as it would be hard work

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2005 16:19

good,

well done

If her registration is the same as mine she is illegal

she cannot have more than 3 under 5 years

so she can have 1 baby and 2 others under 5 years

KatieMac · 04/02/2005 17:36

RTKM my registration as a single C/mer is 3 under 5 and 2 between 5 & 8. This is because my DD is 7.

If my DD was 8, my regitration would be for 3 under 5 and 3 between 5 & 8

If my DD were 3 my registration would be for 2 under 5 and 3 between 5 & 8

It is all to do with your own children and their ages

KatieMac · 04/02/2005 17:39

btw I have 13 children with contracts with me however I have never overminded.

I have so many children who are on part-time contracts that it isn't an issue how many altogether, just how many on any given day

Also Planning or OFSTED may limit your numbers due to the size of your building or your facilities
