So please don't think me rude, I really don't want to be following on from my previous thread please tell me how much you pay your nanny gross and whether live-in or out and whether London or not.

Please name change

Any nannies who want to tell me their salary please do with a new name of course

I'm just wondering whether I need to abandon this and start my childcare arrangements all over again (maybe give up work ?)

About £17000pa gross, 40 hours, live out, home counties.First job but qualified.

nannykaz · 26/05/2008 10:54

i'm in surrey/sussex border and get 23000 a year live out (gross). I contracted for 60 hours but don't usually do that, around 50 av a week. I'm qualified, worked in various settings with children for 20 plus years.
can't change name, don't no how.

Blueskythinker · 26/05/2008 21:36

Northern Ireland rates are £6.50 to £7.50 / hour gross for qualified nannies.

Blueskythinker · 26/05/2008 21:37

Well, the ones I know .

LadyG · 26/05/2008 21:45

£9 net works out to about £28000 gross for a 40 hr week (over 4 days). Ouch.

lindseyfox · 11/06/2008 20:10

night nanny and weekend nanny and eve babysit am a qualified childrens nurse and am in leicestershire and charge £10 an net with a min of £40 per session. (double time after midnight). night nanny is more for twins and triplets. but this is for qualifications and experience which does make a difference.

Lots of fab perks.

Last UK post

I am prob unusual in perks etc,Depend on where you are based but a good guage is to contact a few agencies and they will give you a clue on the going rates.

snickersnack · 12/06/2008 15:25

£9/hour net - live out in London. Sorry, that's not gross but I can't remember what it works out as. Maybe around £12/hour?

snickersnack · 12/06/2008 15:27

Actually that's not true - £90/day for a 10.5 hour day works out as about £8.50.

ActiveC · 12/06/2008 21:09

imananny
yes

Ripeberry · 12/06/2008 21:17

Do the wages depend on how many children you look after? What is the lowest hourly pay for one child?
Just want to know why people use nannies instead of childminders.
Or is it just obvious, because they do the housework as well .
Even with two children at £3.50 an hour a childminder makes much less and they have to have more training than nannies.
Must be more of a London thing, all these high earning nannies, not many around here out in the sticks

Nannies dont do housework thats what cleaners are for.

Cosette · 12/06/2008 21:33

Our nanny looks after just DS at £10 an hour, although she does have DDs of 12 and 10 after school for an hour for 2 of the 3 days she works. She doesn't do cleaning, but does do laundry for all 3, plus tidies up family room and bedrooms.

When DS is 2 we're changing to a childminder at £6ph, which means I'll have to do the laundry etc and also take and pick up DS.

oops not sure what happened there

JannaT · 13/06/2008 20:48

£13.80 per hour gross, central London live out 40 hours a week.

NannyTinks89 · 15/06/2008 17:45

I so need a new job, I USED to do 24hours over three days at £5.10 after Tax and NI..

Seriously, I have Two years experience whilst training, one years sole charge nanny experience newborn experience in that, and a three year old brother and a ten week old brother.. so fully experienced.

Im on Essex/London Borders btw..

Anyone fancy paying me £9Netph Lol!

imananny · 15/06/2008 21:26

nannytinks tbh if you only have one years sole charge nannying experience ( excluding your siblings) then i dont think you would get £9ph

yes you are on a low wage £40 a day if 8hr days) BUT with each job and more exp you should earn more money

there are nannies with 10yrs + sole charge exp and some of them struggle to earn £7/8 an hour

I get £10 ( im worth it, and sooooooooomodest) BUT I have 17 years sole charge exp

though also, i doubt if I will ever earn much more than that, or I will over price myself from the but people are quite happy to pay that - at the moment

nbee84 · 15/06/2008 21:59

NannyT - £5.10 AFTER tax and ni insurance is nearly £7 gross per hour.
How old are you? I'm guessing you can't be any older than 20 as you spent 2 years at college and have 1 year sole charge experience.
So if my presumptions are correct I think £7 gross per hour is a fair wage for you.

And to add my bit to the thread - I earn £8 net (around £10 gross I think) Have no qualifications (apart from short courses like ICP, 1st aid, fire safety etc), but have 20 years experience.

missiesparkles · 17/06/2008 09:16

I currently get £1083 gross per month
Live in
8am-7.30pm
Separate 1 bed flat provided that I don't pay anything for
Car provided (if I could drive lol)
I also get £8 per hour for any extra babysitting

I've got 8 years experience and no qualifications except for the MNT common core skills course+first aid.
I'm just about to start driving lessons+also a CCLD NVQ3 so hopefully in a few years they'll be £9 per hour net with my name on it. Ha!
