Hey Mo, ..i got a call on my answerphone today to say "actually Rose garden the loss adjuster HASNT offered £1500, they have offerd ........wait for it........£6217.97!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..i ring to confirm, yes thats right, i busts a gut to tell dp, he says he wont belive it till its in writing, insurnace ring me back to confirm and say i must be glad its all over, i say too right..then loss adjusters company ring me and no nothing about this figure..they ring insurance and ring me back ...the figure ive been told is the total cost of work to be done..which includes paying chem dry for the dehumidiers(£1000!!??[hmm}), a contingiency fee of £500!!!!!£250 'protection'??????£2659 to us for work and £1000 towards other units..then 20% of this total to builder for ripping kitchen out...so on and so forth meaning the initial pissy amount of £1500 still stands, although they assure me it IS NOT a cash settlement, the work will be done regardless of money(so why are they taking a £500 contingiency fee off the total amount???.....am so farking fed up again my head is banging and im no further forward...Mr C is it worth contacting F.O.S now to ask their advice????

Mmm. Not sure I know where you go from there Rose! Sounds far to confusing on paper for me!

MFI, weren't nearly as bad as I thought. I went in, really not thinking we'd have the kitchen at all, but I was really suprised. He brought the finished plan up on the computer as a photo, with all the designs we'd chosen and then nipped off to the loo, so we quickly noted how many units etc! Needn't have bothered, because he gave us the colour pictures and dimentions to take away! It actually came out at a really good price, so we've got lots to think about! It looks bloody amazing imho! I'm going to try to put the piccies on my profile. Give me 5 minutes!

MaureenMLove · 10/04/2008 21:25

Its not a good photo. I can't seem to upload the other ones. Too big I think. Anyway, that's just one side of the kitchen. The other side has a big american fridge/freezer and an island unit.

ROSEgarden · 11/04/2008 08:21

Mo!!!! DONT GO WITH MFI!!..they ahve SUCH a TERRIBLE reputation for not sending the right/right amount of units/doors etc and also terrible fitters(dont turn up and so on!) the website you showed us..Howdens supply to MFI and as result you use your own fitter but buy direct(much cheaper as well!)..get your fitter to 'buy' the kitchen as he's trade and it will cost much less!..thats what we will be doing

Howdens and MFI used to be own by one company. That parent company was bought by some America lot in December. They wanted MFI but not Howdens, so they sold Howdens on. Any new ranges that come from MFI from January, will not be available in Howdens and the dimentions are very slightly different, to stop people getting the fitting service at MFI and then buggering off to Howdens!

I think really you are taking a chance with anybody. Someone will have a horror story about every kitchen design & fitting service there is! Our friends have just had MFI do their kitchen and it was plain sailing. I think it probably depends largely on each individual store and how quickly they help you. It also depends how the customer speaks to the store and gets what she wants, when she wants it!

ROSEgarden · 11/04/2008 09:24

chick, youre right you take a risk with anyone and all ive heard is bad from MFI were as youve heard good so hopefully in your area theyre great

Because DH is an electrician, he knows people, iykwim! Every time the poor bloke in MFI said, 'we can do that', DH said, 'its OK I know a man who owes me a favour!' I think because the guy knew that we knew what we were doing, he wasn't messing around. He knows we can easily go elsewhere and he wants the sale!

We are debating whether to take the kitchen and fit ourselves. (DH and mates, very cheap, need feeding and watering and beer money!) or get them to do it, because of the work surfaces we have chosen. Its something clever which has to be moulded or summit! Need to source US fridge/freezer too from my DB, who is head of internet sales for Comet! Huge discount, me thinks! See, its who you know, everytime!

ROSEgarden · 11/04/2008 09:44

ooh you lucky bugger every tradesman under one roof!

You'd think so wouldn't you, but he does the work in other peoples houses, because he gets paid! If I want somethin done, I'm nagging! Our house is always last on the list of jobs to do! Hence the fact that the extension was built 6 years ago and its still not finished!

PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 3yr old mindee !
YEsterday whilst out at park/safe/library etc he was very 'dreamy' but he is kind of like this anyway, so i noted it but not tok too much notice..when walking out of park he went to walk off with another family and when i shouted him over he just changed direction ..as if he didnt really click?..anyway, again, he is dreamy, so didnt think too much of it..we went on all the stuff at park, all fine, running around..when on roundabout mindee and dd shouting faster, but then mindee said he was dizzy, so i got him off, sat him on the bench near us and dd stayed on..minute or two later he was running around as norm again..told mum when she collected last night said he was 'extra' spacy/dreamy today, to just keep an eye..they arrive this morn, mum says her ds still not 'himself' but no symtoms..i ask if hes been sick or bad stomache, no nothing..BUT ..she has given him neorofen(why if there are no symotoms, this is for fever/illness etc?)
so mindee sits quietly playing with dd and other m mindee, at 10.30 we get ready to go out..all dressed by 10.45, i go to get coat on and dd shouts xx is being sick..mindee throwing up all over!..clean him up, same again..calm him down, take temp 40 degrees!, strip him off to t-shirt and trousers, put wet flannel on his head give him sips of cold water..ring mum and ring nhs direct, they are concerned, tkae him to gp immediatly if he becomes even more unresponsive(he is literally dropping to sleep and floppy at this point!) she has to cll ambulance!!!
mum keeps asking ME what to do!..so i say take to docs NOW, dont ring just turn up and get him seen..so off they go.

problem is, they keep asking him hes had head njury last few days and i know he hasnt with me, but am worried when he said he was dizzy on roundabout that he might have hurt his neck???..he didnt say he had he was literally just dizzy like anyone would be getting off a roundabout(dd was same when she eventually got off)..but just want to rule out he couldnt have suffered a 'head injury' by going on this???

mum is texting me once her ds is seen..fngers crossed hes ok, poor little mite, he was just floppy and wimpering
