Special! Need I say more? Did she offer any additional services to lighten your load or just the child care?

Me thinks NOT!!

erm, she is very pretty. maybe that was for her other job application and the pics got mixed up?

iheartdusty · 29/03/2008 14:25

she just looks pretty to me
maybe she just chose this one because she thought she looks her best in it?

it's not a bikini shot, as motherhurdicure said

I think she is sending it because she looks pretty - although she does look worryingly (to a middle-aged mum like me) flirty and not sensible - I'd interview her and see what I thought.

kittywise · 29/03/2008 17:45

Guess it wouldn't do any harm. I'll send her THE questionnaire. That'll sort the wheat from the chaf

Hmm - what are you going to want her to do? Is it heavy duty stuff or is it fun, playing with the kids stuff. She looks like she could be fun say, for a little girl to hang out with, but my gut instinct says 'no'. Sorry.

RahRahRachel · 29/03/2008 17:58

I think it's a nice photo, I'm sure she didn't choose it to look provocative! My little sister's au pair photo was one of her holding a huge glass of wine - I pointed out to her that it might give the wrong impression and she should perhaps use one of her with her mum or playing with children, but she'd chosen the wine one because she looked really nice in it. I don't think young girls are going to put much thought into choosing a photo that gives an impression of them as being sensible or good with children etc - they just pick one where they look nice!

ingles2 · 29/03/2008 20:40

LOL's Kitty,... Have you seen how many of them on APW & GAP have pics like this.. It doesn't bother me any more. I don't think they'll be looking twice at my DH

Flibbertyjibbet · 29/03/2008 20:46

Errrrrrrr.........!!!!!!!

JamInMyWellies · 29/03/2008 20:53

kittywise I dont mean to be all judgy judgy but - I know that loads of people use facebook myspace etc etc and have their photos on them. I am hardly one to talk I have pics on here. But did she send this to you privatly if so is it really right to be posting a photo of her on here for everyone to gawp at??

kittywise · 29/03/2008 22:17

I did think about that Jam, but my need for advice is greater than my morals

Looks to me like a sign that she's a bit clueless about what being an au pair is, so you should be very specific about the fact that it's ajob and that she will have duties_ that she can't decide not to do when she doesn't feel like it (experience of aps is that at least 1/2 seem to think they're on a school trip when they arrive)

Janni · 30/03/2008 17:45

Tend to agree with bigshopper - would she have included that photo with an application for, say a secretarial job? I know if I had an au pair I would be expecting them to make my life a heck of a lot easier by WORKING for me !!!

Miggsie · 30/03/2008 17:48

...so she won't be introducing your children to philosophy any time soon then?

3NAB · 30/03/2008 17:48

It could have been the only decent pic she had.

You can't make a decision on employing someone on the basis of the photo she sends.

Does she know you have posted her pic for all to see?

Nighbynight · 30/03/2008 18:09

On Au Pair world, the photo is a v important part of the application

after viewing 1000 of them, you can divvy them up into categories:

with children - yes
in front of famous sights they have visited - yes
with older woman clearly Mum - yes
with boyfriend - no (ffs you are applying for a job where you are going to live in my house! at least pretend a bit!!)
in bikini - no
looking drunk/silly/eyes closed - no
honeypot photo like the one kitty posted - maybe, depends on what she says in the interview.
If you got her off an internet database she may be husband hunting. If she came via an agency, she is prob just a bit naive.

NorthernLurker · 30/03/2008 18:12

I asked my dh - he said don't let her through the front door

Nighbynight · 30/03/2008 18:16

rofl

kittywise · 30/03/2008 21:05

Hey ho, well she didn't even reply to blueshoes' questionnaire so there we go!

I think if you're a potential au pair then you should at least send pictures of you with the children you have worked with.

Anyway I don't have to worry about any flibbity's flirting with dp. he lost the ability to notice women year ago

OP posts:
kittywise · 30/03/2008 21:06

NOT flibbity's NO. apostrophe abuse

OP posts:
Janni · 30/03/2008 22:25

If you want to be REALLY pedantic, kitty, I believe that a single flibberty or a few flibberties might attempt flirtation with your unfortunate DP

kittywise · 30/03/2008 22:27

Yeah I meant flibberities
He should be so lucky
