Morning all, are you all off or anyone working?

I never got back in yesterday but saw this morning that Kay got her variation - WELL DONE . This means you're sticking at it for a bit longer then?

Anyway, thought I'd say hi and see what everyone is up to this weekend.

Not working today. But I am working on Easter Sunday - taking a child to see Days Out With Thomas.

ThePrisoner · 21/03/2008 11:31

Am not working, that's for sure!!! Just saying hello, looney, so that you don't feel neglected!

looneytune · 21/03/2008 11:38

Hiya Nick - are you mad working Easter Sunday!!! Are the parents going too?

TP - HELLOOOOOOOOOO stranger Nice to see you around again! What you up to then? I'm soooo pleased I changed things last year and decided to no longer be available for bank hols!!!

nannynick · 21/03/2008 11:46

No the parents aren't going. Not sure what they are doing, expect something with the other children. The child I am taking, needs 1:1 care at all times, so my having him for a few hours is a break for the parents.

Anyone have a 3 Mobile? And/or get Internet via your mobile/mobile broadband adapter? If so, I want advice... as I don't know what to get, what will work etc.

looneytune · 21/03/2008 11:48

Oh I see, well it's good they have you then Can't help with the mobile I'm afraid.

looney - am fairly busy workwise, but recently said goodbye to one of my full-timers (they moved away), so the house is a bit quieter! Have been following all your baby news - congratulations!

looneytune · 21/03/2008 12:05

Cheers TP I'm very much looking forward to my 12 weeks off!!! (tbh, just want to make it to 6th June, been really struggling recently and yesterday was going to have a major letting off of steam but decided not to bother and I'm calmer today ) So, are you going to replace this full timer or enjoy it being a bit quieter? Anything nice planned for the weekend?

Nick, sounds like a good day out actually! I am sure he (and maybe even you ) will enjoy the day!

Hi TP! Nice to see you around

Hey LT, I know what you mean. I finish May 2nd and it's in my diary as a backward countdown. I have 3 weeks off between work and baby coming but it's more because I am worried about my "danger" time, with possible rupture and premature labour that I want to avoid at all costs. Plus to hang out with my family before chaos reigns!

As for us, we went for a posh chinese last night to celebrate c/s date being moved and DH getting a small bonus at work. (Why we spent some of it, is beyond me but it was his idea!). Today we are off to a local forest with a play centre out doors and meeting SIL and her "fancy man". Her boyfriend/Partner whatever - they are in the upper 40s so it seems silly calling him her boyfriend.

Anyway! Have a lovely day

ThePrisoner · 21/03/2008 12:46

Hi crace - been lurking around and following all your news as well (I lurk around a lot!)

I've had a variation for 4 under 5s for a while, so my full-timer leaving doesn't actually clear a full-time space. I like having less children, but need to earn at the moment (needy dh and 3 needy dds!) - so I am "sort of" scouting around. I can take on a full-timer if I want to though, as dh is registered as an assistant. Decisions decisions.

KaySamuels · 21/03/2008 13:39

Hi ThePrisoner long time no see!

mumlove · 21/03/2008 14:55

Happy Easter weekend to all of you.

We have already been out for a cooked breakfast, quick walk along the beach and have just pegged out the washing (hopefully it's still there) The wind is howling round today, at the beach sand was blowing in our faces otherwise would have stayed longer.

DH going out finishing with friends at tea time so I can get DD to bed and have a few hours peace .

Kay - excellent news on variation.

crace · 21/03/2008 15:35

Good news TP, glad you are keeping busy!

Hi Kay, definitely sounding upbeat! Send some energy this way please! It was a lovely chinese too, sit down with a HUGE salt water fish tank that dd was loving. Great night for us all really.

Boys, it makes me laugh too. I completely stole it from a good friend of mine. Her mum is dating someone, and they are in their 60s so she calls him her mums fancy man. Cracks me up. I love it.

Hey ML!! Sounds like a lovely day

Waiting for said SIL now, DH just out with dc and dogs before they get here. Just made some yummy orange sponge fingers with lemon icing for tea. Will pass out the leftovers!

crace · 21/03/2008 15:35

Oh, and congrats on the prize Boys!!

KaySamuels · 21/03/2008 15:38

Grrr.... so you know my shift work family with older mindee. I have been advised to give notice various times before on here for different reasons, well I have decided to do it.. [tremble]. Only had mindee for an hour after school each night this week, mindee and big sibling been in house all night alone to save fees, and mum has just paid me hourly rate £10, instead of minimum retainer fee £20 (wich I recently reduced it to for her). She is just trying it on!

This mum never pays me on time, or right, mindee is hard work and has behaviour issues, unsociable hours, and hours have been cut to minimum anyway. I know I have to give notice but don't know how!! Mindee not here for 3 weeks now anyway so good timing I guess as need to give 4weeks, but the mum scares me! [worried wimpy emotion] Help!

crace · 21/03/2008 15:45

Call her and follow up with a letter - you need to have these three weeks as notice so it's very timely.... I know it's not ideal, but word it that circumstances have changed and you are no longer able to take child etc etc.

nannynick · 21/03/2008 15:53

I got a new mobile, trying to use it. Writing this using the mobile.

nannynick · 21/03/2008 15:54

That worked, though much faster to write using my laptop!

BoysAreLikeBunnies · 21/03/2008 15:56

Crace, that's the wording I was trying to find.

Good luck, Kay.

Go for it, Nick, modern technology is a bit bewilderingfab

nannynick · 21/03/2008 16:05

While I may have been a techie in the past, I'm a bit behind these days. Think it may take me a while to get used to my new phone, they are far too complex. Will take me a while to adjust my web usage as well, as taking it all mobile does sound a nice idea... if I can it to work in practice. Managed to post a message on here though - so that's a good start.

KaySamuels · 21/03/2008 17:13

The mum would pay a retainer for the 3 weeks coming up, am I right in thinking she won't have to pay them with me giving notice?? Just wan to know where I stand in advance.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 21/03/2008 23:59

had some horrible news today - my cousin's 4yr old dd cut off one of her fingers yesterday

she has had an op. today to sew it back on and hopefully will be ok. i haven't phoned as i dont want to bother them as i'm sure everyone is phoning up - i'll ask my aunt tomorrow.

i was so upset about it that when i told dd[13yrs] i burst into tears i do not do crying - and she gave me a cuddle and looked freaked out

MaureenMLove · 22/03/2008 00:02

Shit Vi! How did that happen?

vInTaGeVioLeT · 22/03/2008 00:06

i think she slammed them in the door - can you even imagine how painfull that would've been? poor little love and my poor cousin it must've been terrifying for the whole family

MaureenMLove · 22/03/2008 00:09

God, the poor little thing! That must have been a hell of a slam! Hope they have managed to save it though.
