They will do an inspection on her if she is registered and if she isn't then they will deal with that too. As Mo said, there are liability issues here.

crace · 27/02/2008 16:23

Oh, and do let us know how you get on with finding new care

No, I know, Jura, but what she did say was that she has 4 under 5's and 4 over 5's, plus her own 11 year old and no sign of a registration certificate on the wall. That is what has raised doubts in our minds. It could be something and nothing, but I personally wouldn't want that on my concience.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/02/2008 17:19

Alittleone2 you are very welcome

Jura, I would normally be the very last one to say 'report, report' but too many alarm bells are ringing.

I hope the CM is registered, for the sake of the other children in her care.

If she is, then no problem, if not, you see, there is no regulation, no insurance, no first aid, nothing to protect the children and their families

Sorry to appear over-dramatic

Yes you do have a right to see it! It should be out and displayed. She obviously has something to hide, and you are doing the right thing.

Good luck on finding something very soon!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 29/02/2008 16:00

Well done you

A condition of OfSTED registration is that the cert MUST be displayed, so you are right to suspect all might not be well

mysonsmummy · 29/02/2008 16:34

i cant see how she cannot be registered. if she is looking after chldren for parents that get tax credits - they would have had to have seen her certificate and put her names/address/childminding number on when claiming for it - wouldnt they?

crace · 29/02/2008 16:41

I had a friend who got tax credits to use toward childminding and i don't recall her using my Ofsted number for them. For the voucher scheme you do need to be registered and have to prove it. I am not sure about the tax credit thing though to be honest.

chickenmama · 20/03/2008 20:44

Hi, alittleone2 did you find a new childminder? I'm a registered CM (with my certificate displayed in my hallway ) in Chelmsford so thought I'd just drop you a line in case you're still looking
