??

I can't decided

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MaureenMLove · 31/01/2008 13:53

Oh, are they bees! Ok, bees then. The children could learn to count on you!

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 13:53

Have you seen him?

No way, No how, no way

Vote here for the tabards. Would you specify what they had to wear underneath, ie blue T-shirt or whatever?

Having worked in preschools, the pocket would be very useful and to be frank, some of those polo shirts can be rather unflattering, not that it's a fashion parade (as my grandma used to say!) but you need to think of all shapes and sizes.

VanillaPumpkin · 31/01/2008 13:58

Yes, the size thing is a factor....

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 16:44

Hmm

Oh I'm being undecided again

The tabards are cute but poloshirts would be my vote, if I were to be your staff. Soo much easier.

MaureenMLove · 31/01/2008 17:26

Stop typing you, you've got sore hands!

Tabbards!

LolaTheShowgirl · 31/01/2008 17:42

Polo shirts look more professional. I think tabbards can look messy on some people sometimes.

nannynick · 31/01/2008 18:59

When I did nursery temping, the agency gave me a tabard. I felt a bit silly at first wearing it, but it had it's practical uses - great for baby sick .

Personally I prefer polo shirts, but I have a lot of them (with logo) which cost a lot to get produced.

If you are considering getting them embroidered, British Tabards are local to you and it looks as though they can embroider simple lettering quite cheaply (around £2 per garment).

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 19:40

DH worries about members of staff who wear low slung trousers and he sees a lot he doesn't want to - so I think tabards might work well

Oh I'm all diffused again

tabbards with a nice logo on

lunavix · 31/01/2008 19:47

can you go with a different company? it needs to be a squarer neckline and hem then it would suit men too. It's a matronly cut

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 19:53

Was there anything better on Nicks site?

dmo · 31/01/2008 21:33

its just me but i dont agree with a uniform for childminding as its a home based setting for the children

AskABusyPerson · 01/02/2008 15:32

Tabards great idea - our pre-school wear them and can have all manner of things in the pockets - including that all important post-it note and pen for the odd observation

Means you can swap them between staff also, and yes, great for covering up when 'more than a sensible amount of flesh' is on show! Quote is from an email from DH work in summer when some of the younger staff were baring a bit too much!

Tabards easy to make if you know someone with a decent sewing machine??

Either way you could get them screen printed at t-shirt printing shop? Cheaper than embroidering?

Don't NCMA do tabards, though think they about £15 each....

Dynamicnanny · 01/02/2008 16:58

What about just bulk buying some normal tesco t-shirts etc in the same style /colour etc - much cheaper

KatyMac · 01/02/2008 20:19

I have decided to not make a decision (yet)

vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/02/2008 13:44

sorry but YUCK to polo-shirts and double yuck to tabards

anyway katy i thought you could sew?
you could make a nice pinny!!!

KatyMac · 02/02/2008 18:55

Sew?.....me?.....think you are confusing me with someone else.....I dabble a bit

& a pinny wouldn't cover the builders bum problem we are having

OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/02/2008 11:38

oh sorry katy - i really thought i'd seen something about you sewing (loosecovers??) maybe it was another katy - yes i can see the builders bum thing is not ideal esp. if they also wear thongs!!! yuck

but i used to have to wear a polo-shirt for work and i hated it (although i agree it's practical to have a partial uniform)and tabards remind me of grannies - sorry.

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 12:46

Sorry - I do sew - but not very well

DD & I are learning atm

You understand the excess flesh problem completely & it's in my house & DD is 10 and I don't want her thinking it's acceptable

But at least the tabards are a nice colour?

Any other suggestions that would deal with my little problem?

LolaTheShowgirl · 03/02/2008 13:50

Aren't you opening the nursery now katymac?

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 13:51

Maybe one day - but childminding will go on anyway

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 03/02/2008 14:16

vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/02/2008 17:17
