Jus as the title says really, if you employ a nanny would you expect her to come into your home and look after your child who’s tested positive for covid?

SleepingStandingUp · 06/11/2021 20:55

No. Simialry any contagious illness. That's the point a parent has to book time off and look after their child unfortunately

SirenSays · 06/11/2021 20:55

Absolutely not.

WholeClassKeptIn · 06/11/2021 20:56

Are you being asked to? Have you had covid?

Elephantsparade · 06/11/2021 20:56

PlanDeRaccordement · 06/11/2021 20:57

No, I would not ask or expect. But if she’s fully vaccinated and volunteers, I would accept.

Piggy42 · 06/11/2021 20:57

No

Samthenanny · 06/11/2021 20:58

Not 100% sure if I’ve had covid. Think I did in the beginning when tests were hard to get to.
But yes I’m being expected to go to work as normal and look after my charge so it means I’m in very close contact with him

If the child were at school they would have to stay home and isolate. Your employers are taking the piss.

SkankingMopoke · 06/11/2021 21:03

No, you shouldn't, but my nanny friend was also expected to when her charge caught it.

Samthenanny · 06/11/2021 21:04

The child does attend school

But they won't be now they have covid

SquishySquirmy · 06/11/2021 21:05

No.
They wouldn't be accepted at school or at a childminders or private nursery either.
There is no way a nanny should be expected to look after a contagious child.
Appalling of the parents to expect it, and I would assume they are cf in other ways too if they suggested this!

happytoday73 · 06/11/2021 21:06

No not unless absolutely critical... Parent was away, about to have surgery or alike, not sure what would do if nanny had been exposed but parents hadn't... Either way would be discussion with nanny

everycowandagain · 06/11/2021 21:06

Absolutely not. DH, DS and I all have COVID and despite feeling dreadful we have of course told our nanny not to come until our isolation period ends. As much as it would help us to have her to do the school run for other non-infected DC and to watch the sick child while we recover, we are managing without.

dementedpixie · 06/11/2021 21:06

They arent supposed to have anyone in the house if someone is positive

DGFB · 06/11/2021 21:07

No
