Good! Glad its not my pc going up the spout - that would never do - what would I do without you lot!!
Mindees mum has just phoned to say she's held up at work and will be late, AGAIN! She's starting to wind me up now. Yesterday she asked me to have him late on Friday because she's going to Ascot! What a life eh? She could get an hour off last week to go to his sports day though! I said no,of course. Its Friday fgs, he doesn't go til 6.30 as it is, what time did she expect me to have him til. I know a lot of you work longer hours than that, but no round these parts we don't!!

Oh, speaking of Ascot.........you know the 2 young sisters I have who also have an au pair.....well they went to Ascot on Tues & Wed. When pi**ed when got back the mum flaunted the fact she'd lost £100 and laughed - poor au pair hasn't been paid for any extra work she does as they are soooo tight but then they rub that in her face!!!

i hate it when they're late. I usually finish at 6.30 and went through a phase of parents getting here at 7pm and I wanted to get ds off to bed - dh would get well annoyed about it! I know how you feel!

Staggers in to staff room, exhausted, been a busy day... nice to be back after 17 hours of work.

Sorry to hear that your MQ is not ideal Saltire... hope you can get things sorted out to a reasonable level soon. I know what Married Quarters can be like, worked in enough of them over in the Aldershot/Church Crookham area (North East Hampshire) in my time.

i want to take my kids out of school for 10 school days, for a holiday but the school arent allowing it?i tried to book in school holidays, but cant get the time off work then.made sure the kids wont be missing sats or other exams, what else can i do?booked the holiday now!teacher saying 'no!'.

fairimum · 15/01/2009 14:51

hi will go down as an unauthorised absence, but provided you dont do it on a regular basis and they havent had a lot of time off school otherwise then it is unlikely that school will get the local education authority involved - they will then be in contact wanting to know why children are off so much and will try and get more details of every absence! - oh and this thread is from June 2007??

It isn't great for kids to miss school, as an ex-teacher the only time i would do it would be the last week of term! the beginnings of term are a nightmare if kids are off, impacts all sorts of things!

curvyclaire - it might be an idea to start a new thread with your own title - this thread is 19 months old and, because of the thread title, is unlikely to be read by anyone other than a few odd childminders (all childminders are odd!)

Thanks for that, TP! I was enjoying a trip down memory lane and my past life as a CM! Quite funny really, I was painting the ceilings and walls of an empty extension and now I am sitting in a beautifully decorated, perfectly tidy extension. Ah, no mindees for me anymore!
