Saltire I'm guessing you're Scottish? My DP is a Fifer. I love Wednesdays just me and the 1 mindee, we get to do loads of one-to-one (and he's still young enough to have a long morning nap )

saltire · 02/05/2007 11:55

julia, was it the name or the mention of har that gave it away?
You'd be surprised how many people don't know what the Saltire is. I live in Fife at the minute but am due a move soon, very far south

Shoshable · 02/05/2007 11:59

Want to borrow my carpet cleaner Saltire .

Just about to put the girls to bed then going to do nothing for a hour, BLISS

Saltire it was both! My DP's family are very hot on all things scottish, and take great delight in confusing me with talk of doilies, messages and pieces tee hee. Plus DS1 was born on St Andrews Day so he has a homemade saltire in his bedroom bless. We are in rural gloucestershire, the poor part near Wales but according to Reader's Digest the 3rd best place to bring up children . Are you coming near here or further down? oooh gotta go wee one waking

princesscc · 02/05/2007 12:09

Any flapjacks left or am I too late? I've had SUCH a tough morning! My internet connection crashed, I have to keep getting up to make more coffee - its hell here! My nice calm day, will come and slap me in the face after school though. 4 mindees 7, 8 and 2x 11 year olds! All boys. I can hear the football hitting the fence already! I do feel for my poor neighbour, the ball always goes his way, never the other. If it went the other way it would be fine as nextdoors kids are usually in the garden as well, but no, always the other way. I've told them, they are only allowed to knock on his door once and then its game over. Is that mean?

saltire · 02/05/2007 12:13

Shosha, thanks, but all the upstairs carpets are being written off because they are old! And, we don't need to paint because it's more than four years since it was last done.

julie - going further than that, south coast. Very far away from grandparents, so a bit sad.

Hiya Girls..mum arrived 10.45, i helped her to car with mindees stuff, went in and straight up to bed, dd woke up at 6.30 and i stayed there till 7am, i have the entre day off today, but still done school run, hooverd through, dusted polished, done two loads of washing, emptied and re stacke the dishwasher, done lunch, got lunch n th go for dp(hes of too but running round doing something for someone!), thentaking mum shopping(window shopping at mo!) for furniture for new house!...phew..glad ive got an easy day..but tomorrow is same as yesterday, only with two mindees, both start 6am one finish 8.30 one 10pm or thereabouts!.....keeping fingers crossed for you LMG.xx

princesscc · 02/05/2007 12:43

Chick, you put me to shame! How do you keep going? I do 6am - 6.30pm on Fridays only and it half kills me! I'd love to sit up half the night on MN on a Friday (God, I live don't I!), but I'm asleep on the keyboard by about 9.30! How did you manage to land 2 mindees with hours like that? Mines a nurse who works part time and does her longest shift on a Friday, then works the weekend night shift, so dad takes over.

PinkChick · 02/05/2007 13:29

one is a trainee nurse, other is health care assistant.i live v.close to big hospital, so do get a few enquiries in this proffesion!

LoveMyGirls · 02/05/2007 13:32

(PC check my thread you will be proud i think?)

I'm just about to have lunch dd2 is in bed, dd1 at school, mindee 1 on hols, mindee 2 off sick and so i'm free until dd2 wakes but i do need to tidy up a bit first

princesscc · 02/05/2007 14:06

Just made rl cup of coffee and noticed how many of my mugs were gifts from mindees! I counted 6! I'm that sad, I have to rotate then as well, to make sure I don't favour one or another! And at what point do you think I can start being not quite as grateful for another mug as a present!!

LoveMyGirls · 02/05/2007 14:13

Can have too many mugs surely?

LoveMyGirls · 02/05/2007 14:13

I meant can't

princesscc · 02/05/2007 14:15

You can if you haven't got a very big kitchen and there are only 2 adults and one child that live here!!

LoveMyGirls · 02/05/2007 14:17

Yes I do have that situation too, dp was going through cupboards the other day looking for something and said we have too much stuff in here i said yeh its ok we're moving soon so we'll have more storage - he muttered something about having a clear out......

princesscc · 02/05/2007 14:20

Trouble is it makes me lazy. It means I don't have to empty the dishwasher for longer, as I've got more mugs in the cupboard!

LoveMyGirls · 02/05/2007 14:21

Whats in the cupboards makes no odds to me, I look at the sink if its full i sort dishwasher, cant stand seeing it all over flowing!

princesscc · 02/05/2007 14:47

[pcc stretches and sighs] S'pose I better do some work today then! All hell is about to break loose. Schoolies due in 30 mins, dd had a BIG arguement with mate yesterday and I will get the fall out from that. DH due home in 45mins and will wind the mindees up like a spring and bugger off out again and dm (aka Nannie to ALL mindees) will be here in an hour. 2 dinners to cook, one late collection for after school club and all that is 3 hours!

hennipenni · 02/05/2007 15:05

Phew, finally managed a 5minute break, oh well off to do the school run now, bye!!

Shoshable · 02/05/2007 18:16

Ok finished, fed, dishwasher on, feet up

princesscc · 02/05/2007 18:38

All done! For the mindees anyway. Sent dd off to empty bins, empty diswasher and tidy toys from garden. I'm cooking quick stirfry for tea, then I'm off dancing! I had a cm question in my head about ten minutes ago, but I'm damned if I can remember it now!

Shoshable · 02/05/2007 18:41

Dancing Dancing are you wonderwoman PCC, all I want to do at the end of the day is collaspe into the cahir with a cuppa

OP posts:
princesscc · 02/05/2007 18:48

Not quite wonder woman, its an hour & half of salsa! It doesn't matter how knackered you feel before you get there, its worth the effort. Very energising.

saltire · 02/05/2007 19:34

All children away, DS1 at cubs, DS2 out playing with his friends. Me - hoovering breadstick mess of the floor, wiping grubby fingermarks off the windows and the TV, wiping paint off the table. All ready for another session tomorrow. I also have both Ds at home as school is being used as pollingstation, and have mindee 2's sister.
Tell me if you think this is wrong. Mindee 2's 6 year old sister goes to another CM, I didn't have spaces. Two weeks ago a letter came out saying school would be shut tomorrow. So fast forward to today, mindee 2's dad picks up sister from her CM, and says "I'll see you tomorrow".
"Oh no you won't" says CM, "the schools off tomorrow and I'm not having X as you didn't check with me if it was ok".
Now maybe I'm just super nice, but I would have mentioned it to the parents at some point and asked if they wanted me to have X for the extra hours. This CM hasn't though, and luckily I can have the child. Would you ahve mentioned it sooner to parents to check, or would you leave it up to thm to ask you? IYSWIM.

Shoshable · 02/05/2007 19:37

I usually have to tell my parents taht the school is shut and automatically book them in unless told other wise.
