I am trying so hard to get a job that pays better... but so far I can only make 30k. I have no idea how it’s not possible for me to be in the negative with childcare in London.
I have a 7,6 and 1 year old.
After school club costs £100 a week for the older two... added to full time childminder or daycare for little one it’s more than my salary. I thought a nanny but everyone says I would have to pay £10 an hour or more because of three kids... which would be £100 or more per day... also more than I net.... so what do I do? How is there no help for this situation?

Childcare costs are a nightmare. I sympathise. Worth every penny and wouldn’t want to pay my childminder less, but it’s still difficult to make the numbers add up when you’re looking at full time costs. If you think you can make it work financially then really go for it and focus on climbing the ladder a bit to get more money.

my kids already share a room. we are not in a big flat. it’s London.

my husband’s wages make us survive. and my wages will 100 percent go to childminder with barely enough left over for my oyster card. the only thing we have come up with is that he can possibly take off monday and work saturday so at least I can pay only 4 days of childcare... this is the only way it looks like I can make any £

Childcare will get cheaper at age 2 and then much cheaper at 3.

A job is a stepping stone to promotion or a better paid job. Workplace pension paid now will be worth a lot by the time you retire.

I know rents are ridiculous, but on a combined household income of £68k (spread across 2 so you each get tax allowance) plus CB plus tax allowance on childcare, you should be able to manage? Not be rich, I agree!
