mindee turned up this morning at 8.30......NOT 9.30 as agreed......has just been to toilet and while doing a wee, mindee said i've pooed as well...didnt realise, so very loose(sorry tmi!)...i asked if she has had a poorly tummy this morning at mummys??..yes..and a nanas at weekend!...so mum drops of knowing her dd is poorly and doesnt think to mention it

[angry on your behalf.

I would phone mum tbh.

quietmouse · 19/03/2007 11:14

even

mumlove · 19/03/2007 11:25

Why is it that parents never tell us the truth about how well their child is!
So are you phoning for her to be collected?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 12:48

i text mum and asked if her dd had been ill yesterday or today as mindee said she had!(but tbh, sometimes hard to get fact /from fiction from her)..mum said no, not at all??..i said i would kep and eye and get back in touch, but so far nothing else, shes having lunch now...am just sick of being messed around this past week..friday and today, i look a wreck and have prob seemed unproffesional cos i answer door with wet hair and not ready..but theyve been arriving 15 mins, 30 mins and 1 hour early!!!!!!!!!..so then i have to leave them sat there while i run upstairs, blast my hair and have them sat thinking i am unorganised

SHOSHAlee · 19/03/2007 13:01

Strawberry think its time to put something in writing, stating that you want the time of arrival in writing on the Friday for the following week, that any times differing will be charged at double time.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:04

i will be charging mum for today and told 30 min early parent last week that i would expect them between 8 and 8.30(as her shifts can hold her up).thing is 5 mins early on morn is fine and helps me as i leave at half past to take dd, but 1 hour, even 15 mins is too much as that last 15 mins is when i dry hair, and get me and dd ready in out clothes..this morn had mindee shouting she wanted a drink when i was strangling myself on coats trying to get our shoes out of cupboard

oh how frustrating strawbs
you see strawbs because we cms work from our home we are always available at any time of the day for parents to be as early as they wish or as late as they wish.........have you not been told that as a a cm you are certainly not allowed to have a life of your own?!!

mumlove · 19/03/2007 13:09

Dad of littlest mindee dropped her off today then came back to says he might be 1/2 hr late collecting, at least I been told this time.
I would charge them extra (at least £1 pr hr more) for being early without asking.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:10

thing is if you do say something you ARE seen as being funny, however you say it!

I actually put a sign on my door when I repeatedly had a mum turn up at 7.00 when mindee wasn't suppose to be in till 7.30 once saying 'Shosha Daycare Opens at 7.30, and closes at 6.00. Please do not call out of those times.'

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:14

and parent to mindee with poorly tummy also didnt leave her fee this morning, so now i have to 'ask' for it this evening!..i would never ever do this i make sure my priorities are sorted and my debts are paid....sigh.................

well i could do a 'newsletter' type thing,as i need to confirm hols etc soon, but they would know i was getting at and think i was stupid for not saying anything face to face!

OP posts:
Rubybees · 19/03/2007 13:20

Hard one! I wouldn't put up with a hour early without pre arrangment though.

As for late payment of fees I charge in advance, payment to be made on 2nd of month or if not falling on their day next time I see them. I have refused to have children on grounds of non-paymeny on due date and charge £5 per day late on top of it.

We are running a business they would not stand for it if they didn't get paid would they grrr hehe

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:27

i charge in advance too, they should pay today for coming week.last week they paid four days late cos they didnt bring it first day, said they would pay it into bank next day, then didnt bother for two days!!!...i just to say didnt get charged for being overdrawn!

OP posts:
StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:43

just spoke to dp, he thinks i should do my newsletter and state that early drop off prevent me doing things that i should before work meaning i may have to do them through day when i should be looking after their children, so early drop off are no no's then he suggested i say early drops offs are charged double time byt the hour

mindee mum just rang, told her she needed to bring fee tonight as i am(dp) in tomorow

OP posts:
quietmouse · 19/03/2007 13:44

you should always be charging double time for hours outside of their contracted hours.

Maybe write a letter or put it in your newsletter that you are going to be updating contracts.

An hour early is taking the p*ss imo.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:48

i think ill do the newletter seeing as i need to do it for my hols etc..would i 'need' to write it on contracts? as its not a set fee, just if theyre early/late?

OP posts:
quietmouse · 19/03/2007 13:49

I always have done - I think there's a bit on the NCMA contract which says charge for hours outside of contracted times?

princesscc · 19/03/2007 13:51

Just don't open the door if they are early. Make them sit on the drive and wait. Tell them you were ib the bath/still in bed and didn't hear them. And with regard to the sick child, I would suggest phoning her back and saying mindee needs collecting now and needs to be at home for 24 hours before coming back. I know its easier said than done, but we childminders have rights too!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:53

just looked it says should not be outside cm's normal working day..so as far as 9.30 child is concerned, this is my normal working day!?

OP posts:
StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:54

thing is last few weeks have been 6-6.30am drop offs, and more often than not 20 mins early..even at that hour.i cant have them stood hammering on door at that time of morn!..it needs to be put straight.before due time and home time = double time

OP posts:
looneytune · 19/03/2007 13:55

I added something in my newsletter about this, let me know if you want me to send it

quietmouse · 19/03/2007 13:55

it's still definetly double time though because it's outside of their contracted hours. You may want to just put in the notes section - I think there's a space for any other information, isn't there?

Or just write it in the newsletter and maybe get them to sign a slip saying they understand the new conditon of your service or something.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 19/03/2007 13:58

i would love to see it Looneytune, do you have my email still?

i think signature idea is good, as then they can confirm i have given notice of holidays and charges..good thinking batman
