she got a parking ticket when taking my dd to nursery. she has been with us for 3 months and has been really lovely. should i offer to pay for this ? will she be expecting me to? i just don't want to set a precedent.....what is fair?

btw - dd s/be going to elm park free for all the recommendations i've given!

Not too much of a hike surely - not more than 20-25 mins walk, tops, for a fit, young nanny? (I used to live near Wandsworth prison, off Trinity Road, and hike up to Clapham Junction every day rather than Wandsworth Common station - Zone 2 rather than 3 and lots more choice for trains.)

bossykate, not to worry, elm park wasn't one of them. the real swing factor for me was that her closest friend was in Bringing up Baby.
SueW, not a question of fitness of the nanny at all. Believe me, with my DD, that would be a real test as a) she wants to walk most of the time - and that will be too long for her to go and back (and still enjoy nursery!) and remember i have an 8 month old as well - so a bit concerned re DD walking and nanny pushing pram through old town and clapham park road where it can get pretty busy. Add the winter months and rain, and absolutely no way.

if she parked illegally because she left late because of some unavoidable work thing then yes I'd pay it this time, but work out together how to avoid it in future. I'd also consider paying it if she's new to the area and didn;t realise (perhaps a bit more grudgingly) but if it was something she could and should have avoided (eg by leaving time to park legally further away) then no. or I might be soft and go halves.

read the thread properly and agree you should pay it and advise her from now on to get a p&d ticket. have also had a strange vision in my head of uwila and cod going head to head. scarey.

Oi Lisa, how the heck are you? In the new job yet? How are the kids? How are you?

bossykate · 07/12/2006 12:12

oh come on! from clapham south to the old town is a good 15 mins. then from the old town down north street to wandsworth road is another 15 mins. i'd say it would be a good 40mins walk!

balancingact · 07/12/2006 22:56

hahaha, i like your post bossykate! for a while there i was thinking if i was seriously lazy as i wouldn't consider walking it myself!
