Hi Hennipenni - I was on holiday last week - maybe that's why you haven't seen me arround?

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 22:39

good idea!

Have been busy settling in new mindees so haven't had time for mumsnet recently, plus organising oldest DD for new secondary school, trying to sort out youngests allergies...etc

HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 22:39

I've also been away aswell.

Katymac · 01/09/2006 22:40

Nice holiday?
DD starts middle school on Tuesday.....& I seem to have picked up 3 B&A school chldren with the move to a new school

Lovely holiday tnnx, how was yours?

Is DD looking forward to her new school?

I've lost 2 B&A schoolies ( well one has gone to secondary and the other I will have as and when needed) but have just started 2 under5's and one under 8's. Can't beleive that after 2.5 years I've actually got enough work to say that I'm full!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 22:47

Great news about being full

Our holiday was crp - I hated it

We are thinking of downsizing a bit atm

DD is very excited but I am sh*t scared for her (after all the bullying at the old school)

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 22:54

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your holiday.

I followed your threads about the bullying that your DD went through, I really hope that she can leave all that behind her now (and you to), it';s good that she's looking forward to a fresh start.

Well I say that I'm full but in reality I still have one fulltime space available but for some reason something is holding me back from filling it? I think I just worry about how I would cope with three under 5's together!!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 22:56

Swop you for 9....

We are dropping to 6 - so that I can go and open a nursery (maybe?)

Do you think anyone else will join us here?

WHat with your lo's allergies - what are they allergic too?

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:11

Don't think theres anybody else around except for shinystar, will you join us SS?

Didn't know you wanted to open a nursery!

DD3 allergies are cats, house dust mites and dairy, but something else is setting her off at the moment but we don't now what it is, she is always really good on holiday and outside, but as soon as she comes inside it all starts of again and it's always at the same time. We are also getting the assciated behavioural probs as well as it all makes her very tired ( she's only 5 and doesn't "do" tiredness very well). Have to make her a GP appointment next weerk, trying to fit it around mindees is hard tho'

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:14

Don't let the cat in her bed (they lick their fur and it is the dried spit that can cause problems esp at night)

Freeze all her cuddly toys for at least 12 hours

Have you got the special bedding & do you hoover her matress?

Apologises is you do all this already

When we lived in a victorian house with double glazing we fitted a positive flow ventolation system whic really helped Dh's allergies

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:31

Yep, do all that and more, I think it's time she went back on her antihystamines again regulaly (sp)which I was hoping to keep her off for a while longer ( she has an appointment for a hearing test, I'm absolutly sure that the reason she passed the lsat two was to do with being on antihystamines as it dries up the glue in her ears, but at the moment she's quite deaf again and although her grommetts are still in situ, I don't want her discharging as it took so long to diagnose last time- she was very good at lip reading so we didn't realise how bad her hearing was).

Have your DH allergies cleared up now? We are a very atopic family with a very strong historyt so I don't hold out much hope of her growing out of it!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:35

Do you have double glazing?

If so the +ve flow thingie might help

We went for the expensive system - but it's basically an extractor fan in the attic forcing air into the house and inceasing the air turnover

It really reduced the dust mite problem

We are all wood floors upstairs as well

An open fire can help (surprisingly enough)

DH is quite bad - he has very bad asthma (only about 50% of his lungs are working - his peak flow is just silly)

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:42

Sorry to hear that your dh asthma is bad, I sometimes wonder if thats part of her prob as well as she has a tight dry cough at times.

We do have double glazing and central heating too but always always have the windows open, kind of defeats heating the house really, mindees parents know to send mindees well wrapped in the winter!

Have you any more hols booked for this year?

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:43

Maybe a week at christmas - don't know where tho'

What about you?

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:47

Nowhere now till summer half term next year, but have three holidays pencilled for next year!

We may fit in a w/end in London, but will probably run out of w/ends!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:48

Well if you want a weekend in Norfolk - you are most welcome (have to sleep in the playroom tho')

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:49

Cheers, just come back from Norfolk too!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:51

where were you - you could have come in for a coffee?

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 01/09/2006 23:55

A lovely little place called Belton, I did look for Walnut Corner but my Geography is pretty rubbish, we were more than likely on the wrong side of Norfolk!!

Katymac · 01/09/2006 23:56

Belton (south of GY)?

If so you were about 15 miles away

Walnut Corner is the name of my house - I am in a small village just by Acle

OP posts:
HenniPenni · 02/09/2006 00:00

Yes, that's the one!

We didn't go near Acle but I do remember seeing road signs for it, how strange!

Have promised all three DDs that we will return there next year (they all adopted a horse or donkey from Redwings and want to see them again). I will call for coffee next year!

HenniPenni · 02/09/2006 00:01

What village (if you don't mind me asking?)

Katymac · 02/09/2006 00:02

No problem - catch you soon I'm off to bed
