What's the best way to ask AP not to use my iPad?

So, AP has been with us for 6 months. I think she is very good. There are some minor Tensions but I'm taking into consideration that I am easily annoyed!

Anyway yesterday I was out all morning, she knew I would be, and when I got back there were four emails sent to her from my iPad. They had photo attachments. I am positive it was her because they were sent when I was doing the school run and there photos I had shown her and she liked.

Now, I don't like people using my stuff without asking. It feels especially sneaky as it was only 10 or so minutes after I left the house - as if she was waiting for me to leave. Why didn't she just ask me to send them to her?

Do I casually say "I see you've sent some emails from my iPad, please can you check with me next time".

Or hide it when I'm out - not my preferred option as it doesn't address the issue but at least I don't have to have a difficult conversation!

Or take a firmer line?

What else has she been sneaking about doing?

Maybe I'm just not cut out to share a house with someone...

Well if she used it loads you'd have to charge it more and I read that an ipad battery will only charge a certain amount of times. After so many charges the cells start dying. So on that basis I would mind.

Sounds like it may just have been a one off as she liked your photos. So I would do a PIN number and not say anything.

She waited until you went out and then logged into your personal email account and used it to send photo attachments to herself from your online photo album? I think that's seriously overstepping the mark and I'd feel very uncomfortable in your shoes. If you are going to share your home with someone, give them the keys to the front door and leave your children in their care, you have to be able to trust them. I would feel perfectly comfortable about our nanny using our iPad as I trust her not to invade our privacy. If I found she had done what you've described I'd probably be looking for a new nanny.

If it's an iPad just put it some PCM he can't find it. Is it the only computer you have? Outrageous she used your email acct.

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 22/01/2014 22:12

Sorry place she can't find it...

Chrome

To me sharing my iPad would be like sharing my underwear. I might in a pinch let someone close to me borrow it in an emergency if I'd checked it was clean :)

I have nothing to hide but, gadgets are personal to me.

I wouldn't mind if someone used my ipad if I wasn't there, what I think is the issue is her going into your email account and actually sending emails from it (albeit to herself).

I'd probably be too shy to say something!
I'd either keep my accounts logged out or keep ipad away.

Did you say anything?

Annie2012 · 29/01/2014 23:37

I don't think she was being sneaky!
I think you sound as if your feeling worried and thinking too much into it.
She probably thought it was no issue and would be more than embarrassed to know it had annoyed you.
If I was you to save upsetting both yourselves, stick a password on it and if your children are old enough you could use the excuse that it is to stop children using it.

For all those worried about her using the o's email, to send a photo you don't log into the email account, you just click on the photo and a send option comes up

FlorenceMattell · 30/01/2014 23:26

I think just be straight. Say sorry I don't like sharing my iPad but if you want any photos just let me know and I will email.
She is probably young, not sneaky, looked at photos, clicked on them, then option to email comes up so she sent to herself.
She might be embarrassed when you tell her but at least she will know.
And nothing wrong in not wanting to share IMO

AmandaCooper · 02/02/2014 21:06

Heebiejeebie ah I did not realise that. Thank you for pointing it out. I would probably be okay with that then.
