Hi Mums

I am a working mum in France, and DH has just been offered a position in London. We have 1 daughter and we will launch baby number two this spring (hopefully it will get to earth end of 2006). I have all sorts of questions, and specifically should I try to find a job in the UK or stay at home with my children?... and the cost of childcare is one major issue in the UK for working mums...

Can you help me to have an idea of how much it would cost me ? just let me know what childcare type you chose (nursery, childminder, nanny), for how many children, in which town and how much it costs you in a month all included.

thanks a lot for your help :)

mamanflo, back in the UK with a smile :)

god god!!! this thread is over 2years old!!!!

how weird of cherbear1 to go hunting through prob 1000's of posts to add to it

rookiemater · 08/08/2008 15:06

Oh oops silly of me not to notice, and I was soooo polite and guarded in my response to her as well.

I shall let my true feelings be known. Cherbear if you are trying to advertise for work you need to do that on your own post for the best likelihood of response. I would also suggest checking all spelling, and not putting the message in capitals as on the web, that indicates shouting. Also, and I realise that I am being nitpicky and pedantic here, but I am honestly trying to help, I would choose a different email address for your business as topgal doesn't have the professional ring to it that you would want.

How bizzare!!!!!!!!
I have had two ds since the op posted.
Would it not have been easier to just post a new , (just a suggestion)

imananny · 08/08/2008 15:49

not me just being picky then

and yes agree with rookie - you need to check spelling when placing an ad

puzzled by your advert though - the wording seeems a little strange - using the word considering as if you are doing something not of the norm for nannies

nannies should have pl insurance, car insurance, obv we are one to one (or 2/3 if siblings) and our job is to take them to places ie M&T as well as playing and teaching them

people will pay what they can afford and what they think the nanny is worth - some jobs I have gone for have been advertised at £X and I have asked for more, and got it

Am I the only one having a snicker over compromising when she meant comprising...

imananny · 08/08/2008 15:59

Hi, I was looking on this site for costs of childcare for school age kids in my area (South Northants). I've never looked at this site before and I am a little shocked at some of the posts.
I would have thought this site would be a good place to research charges and expenses but instead of helping that poor girl, you are sneered at her because her English is lacking. Why didn't you just answer her questions? IE: what do other people charge and are there costs that she has to take into consideration that she hasn't thought of.
I'm surprised the supervisers of this site have allowed these posts, they verge on bullying.
Oh, I've just realised I've given you all something else to sneer at, this thread is over a year old. That's because it's the only one talking about childcare costs. Not surprising really, who would raise the subject again after this response.

booboo78 · 01/11/2009 01:23

Well said, NiceMama! I joined this site as I thought it would give me access to advice, idea sharing and information from mature parents and childcare providers. I would be better off talking to the teenagers from the local school. Much less bitchy.

Millarkie · 01/11/2009 17:04

The replies in 2006 to the original poster do discuss childcare types and cost.
The thread was then resurrected on the 8th Aug 08 (ie. 2 years later) by someone putting on an advert (as you can see by the text at the top of this board adverts are Not Permitted).
The fact that
a) adverts are not permitted
b) it is sneaky to put an ad on an old thread misleading people as to the subject of the thread and
c) the advert was badly phrased
has led to regular posters making a joke of it.
Try starting your own thread asking for advice - I'm sure you'll get some sensible answers.
