I can't find the thread with the e-petition link and the one with the other link to the Labour Party website.....how strange!

Maybe not so strange.

Some links/petitions are not permitted unless you go through MNHQ first.

Hi Italiana
Not all of your threads have disappeared. Here's one which we kept as it was an interesting discussion but we don't really encourage links to e-petitions

My apologies I was not aware of it...it has sparked a debate anyhow and that has put c/ms on the map.
C/ms are part of your topics and if we get to lose our businesses the discussions may be less interesting.
Thanks to all who input and supported our campaign...I will start the conversation in Twitter now.

No way.........are you saying your threads with the childminder dereg petitions have been removed???!!! If so, I think that's extremely unfair as you are in the CHILDMINDER etc. section and it's US CHILDMINDERS who WANT to know about this stuff as it affects our lives in a big way!!! Having said that, if it wasn't specifically that stuff that's been deleted then I can't comment as I haven't seen it.

Italiana · 27/06/2012 14:05

If you click on the link by Olivia Head Quarters above you can see the very wide discussion.
Strange that Mumsnet removed the link to the e-petition against deregulation than went on TV to talk about deregulation!!!

Also Netmums worked with NCMA and produced a survey aimed at parents to gather their views...the vast majority were against deregulation so parents' views have proved really useful as they should!
Nowhere does it say you can't post links to e-petitions but people still look for childcare ..which is not allowed! Be fair Mumsnet!

We do try to be fair. Honest. In our talk guidelines We explain: We have no problem with people posting the odd link to other sites that other posters might find useful or helpful. But we will delete anyone's attempts to "spam" the boards with links, as a way of promoting their own site or product or blog or e-petition, as it annoys our members. We really don't have anything against this specific e-petition some of us may have signed ourselves in a personal capacity but try to stick to our guidelines as much as possible on a case-by-case basis. I see no fairness here...honest!
I still see lots of people advertising which is very clearly against your rules....but their posts are not removed!

The link to the e-petition has caused no one to complain or declare themselves annoyed...on the contrary the debate was very informative and it involved mums...the ones very important in this and whose views c/minders really appreciate.

Have you asked your bloggers if they felt your decision was fair?
I reassure you I was not promoting my 'own product' but a form of childcare that many parents treasure and I feel their right to know may be under threat.

Hi Italiana
We rely on our members to let us know using the report button if they see something that is against our guidelines, whether that's a personal attack, a cheeky advert promoting something, or something like this.

We can only reiterate that we have to stick to our guidelines. Again to reiterate we left the thread containing the valid discussion because one thing we are absolutely FOR is the freedom of speech and the right to discuss things like this.

Really hope this clear things up.

Italiana - I've been using this board since 2005 and have always really liked MN but I'm as equally annoyed about this particular removal than I've ever been about anything before. I just don't understand it myself :(

Italiana · 01/07/2012 08:45

No.... they obviously do not monitor the threads as well as they say...
plenty of advertising goes on...but it is allharmless and my thread was not going to benefits anyone personally but parents (very important here) in particular.

....and asking for Mums' help to change the Govt's mind about something that will affect their children....

Am confused too as they say 'they left the thread' for freedom of speech...so why remove it? not it is not clear at all.....anyone agrees? probably not.
