Evening

I've been working on advertising today and put together a list of what I had already used and some news ones I've come across.

Hope I've remembered them all! Anyway, thought I'd share it with the rest of you. There are others around that charge a fee - these are free!

www.scoot.co.uk
www.ukvillages.co.uk

www.childrensdirectory.com
www.tinies.com
www.192.com
www.childminder-uk.co.uk
www.childcareindex.co.uk

If I find more, I'll add them!

Hope it's of some use to those looking to fill vacancies like myself.

If any of you know of others, please add them to the list.

Cheers

Oooooh thanks helly just what I need atm, had a busy week trying to sort advertising locally. Will email you over the weekend

HellyBelly · 25/11/2005 17:59

No probs. Some of these allows links to websites (IF you decide to go ahead) for free, others charge and others don't offer it. Anyway, get yourself on as many as possible and you should find (given time) that you appear on things like searches on google.

I.e. if you put 'Childminder in Spencers Wood' (that's me ), you should see me listed loads!!

Good luck!

HellyBelly · 25/11/2005 18:27

No probs Jelly - just remembered another local one - shall I post it here? (as i know you'll probably loose the email )

Cheeky mare, insulting a woman whilst she is down.

HellyBelly · 25/11/2005 18:38

Local one is

www.reading-guide.co.uk

Don't know if this is any use to anybody but it is advertised in who minds. It is only available to parents who use care-4 vouchers. As far as I know nowhere around me does and I tried to register but it wouldn't let me - NCMA must know that you want to participate in a vacancy scheme, I am assuming this is why I can't register.HTH

katymac · 26/11/2005 14:21

I just registered with NCMA and can use that site from 1st Dec

So do reg this month so that you can advertise in Dec

HellyBelly · 26/11/2005 14:47

Great, keep them coming

I've got no ds til tomorrow at 3pm so will do more work finding other places. If I find many more I will do a new list and also a list of suggestions for other advertising like post offices, newsagents, supermarkets, library, dr's etc etc.

If you have any suggestions what so ever, please post here. I will do one final list when I think it's needed. Think a few of us need as much help as we can get at the mo

Few more:

www.childworks.co.uk
www.kyotee.co.uk
www.familyrapp.co.uk
www.babydirectory.co.uk
www.upmystreet.com

Off for a rest now as my eyes have gone all fuzzy surfing the net. Just in time for X Factor

Before I go, another non-online idea is if you can get a contact at any local property developer. My mindees mum works for one of these (like Bovis homes etc - she doesn't work for them though!) and said part of her job is to look into childcare, schools, gyms etc to help people who may be moving into the area. She took lots of business cards to pass round her contacts as well as to have at the office!

Just an idea

Another one here www.thelocalweb.net

Thanks Helly

HellyBelly · 26/11/2005 19:06

Thanks for that, have added myself. Any of you who have a website can add a link for free

This is the most helpfull thing ive come accross in ages, thanks alot. Thats a real help, better get off now and put my ads on them all...!!!

HellyBelly · 27/11/2005 14:42

Just want to help. Some people are going to have to stop childminding if they can't fill their vacancies and I just want to help in the way everyone has helped me since I started!

I'll keep adding things as and when I come across something new!

If everyone else could do the same, that would be great!

HellyBelly · 27/11/2005 15:30

Don't think you can advertise on here but you can see if someone is looking for someone and then reply. Just in case it helps it's:

Movethat.com for London only I think....

HellyBelly · 28/11/2005 13:17

TIP......

when advertising with descriptions (online), put your area but also mention surrounding local areas, like this for me:

.......in Spencers Wood, Reading (near Shinfield, Arborfield, Swallowfield, Three Mile Cross, Lower Earley etc.).......

This means that other areas will be picked up when people search on google and other search engines. All my business so far has been outside my own village so if someone is searching their area and say you are the village next door, as long as it's in your adverts, you should appear on the search!

Does that make sense???

BTW, most of these things take a little time to appear online so be patient

juliaemma · 28/11/2005 19:28

On best bear where can you advertise?
Also on childalert and practical parent? Cant work out where you can or if they will let you??

HellyBelly · 29/11/2005 08:42

childcare alert site - go to directories on the left hand side and select 'talking parents forum'

practical parent - this has a messy home page and there's links all over the place so not surprised you didn't find it. Try again, this time scroll to the bottom of the page. THEN, scroll up bit by bit keeping your eye on the far left. You'll see a blue box heading saying community support and to the right of that is a link to 'parenting forum message board'

Let me know if you don't find these!

Forget about the bestbear site as I think that has a charge - you can advertise if you want to pay.
