I remember that case. Very sad, especially as the baby shouldn't really have been on significant solids at all. Unfair on Readybrek, though as although it is not suitable for babies, it doesn't have any added salt. I think it was probably the gravy taht did it (gravy powders have very high salt contents). But three meals for a baby that age is nuts! Ironically the father was a chef. I do remember a nanny friend of mine commenting on the baby's expensive combination pram in the pictures in the paper, so I am not sure that it was that they were too poor, rather than they felt baby food was just too expensive. But I do think that whilst in general there is plenty of information about proper weaning given to new parents, the fact that restaurants etc routinely offer children's meals that are terrible - even in places with healthy options for adults! must give peope the idea that things like smiley faces and chicken nuggets are appropriate children's foods. Good luck jellyjelly, I am sure you are doing a great job, and like other's I can't believe that under sixteen years olds are not given milk vouchers - it would seem to me they would be a group most at risk of not breastfeeding, not having access to support, and being poor.
