For heavens sake Mr Kahl/Babysdays! Didn't you get flamed enough last time you came on MN trying to advertise your product for free like this?

If you need to advertise it pay for it like reputable businesses.

There are some very big questions in a lot of people's minds about the ethics of your organisation and I think you'd be well advised to ask MNHQ to delete this before all your dirty linen gets aired in public again.

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:11

Ermmmm check my history please, have been on mn for 6 years.

Was just about to say that was a bit harsh. I totally agree about Babydays and as interested in it as I WAS, I thought the key person had a terrible attitude so won't be using it. But summerfruit is a CM and probably got an email from babydays today and thought she'd ask - am I right? I only ask as I had an email from them today.

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:17

I was just asking because I received a mail yes! Looneytune, I must have received the same, I like the concept, I just didnt know it was controversial !!

OP posts:
Treeesa · 21/12/2010 14:17

Isn't that a bit harsh or is their something I'm missing.. I'm pretty sure Summerfruit is a CM and although I don't usually find myself in debates concerning child minding, I know she has been posting on here for quite a long time.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/12/2010 14:19

Summerfruit IIRC the babydays scheme uses monthly/termly topics as opposed to following the children's interests so it is not really suitable for CMs or indeed any Early Years practitioners in England (I can't speak for welsh/scottish CMers)

We have had AWFUL problems in the past with Mr BabyDays coming on here and slagging us off for saying this, so I am expecting him to appear in a puff of smoke very soon

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/12/2010 14:20

And yy Alison, Summerfruit has been here a long time

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:22

I didnt know the software's owners created some problems otherwise I wouldnt have asked !!! Now I know and wont mentionne it again !!

OP posts:
Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:23

And I tried to do some research on it before asking but I couldnt find anything, hence why I have asked on here !

looneytune · 21/12/2010 14:24

Summerfruit - I wouldn't worry hun, you did absolutely nothing wrong in asking, you wouldn't have known :) I think it's wrong for someone to ASSUME that because this subject was started, it must be an advertising thing :(

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:26

Oh well, I'm sure Alison was a bit stressed, tis the time of the year !

OP posts:
Treeesa · 21/12/2010 14:32

agree Summerfruit - I've been wrapping presents non-stop since 9.30 and I've just bitten DH head off as he's been sitting reading the newspapers most of the day.. He's got almost 2 weeks holiday as he's 'working from home' this week and this is my Christmas break as I'm working over the weekend :-(

I think it's definitely sherrytime already today..!

RosieGirl · 21/12/2010 14:32

Like you summerfruit I was also going to ask this question after getting an e-mail today. After a year struggling day after day with paperwork, it looks like a god-send, but remember issues arising when someone asked a similar question.

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 14:39

My next working day is on thursday I'm full house, I'm dreading a bit as I'm shattered as we all are !

Rosie- the concept looks great but I understand there is more to it, I'm glad I have asked on here as I was seduced and already thinking oh yes I can afford 9.99 a month !

There are a couple of similar products on the market if that's all you're looking for. Nobleminder and Purple being just two.

And they answer questions posed to them regarding security, CRB checks and company legality politely and informatively, unlike BD's aggressively rude responses on here.

I can understand Alison's reaction. Mr. BD's mode de employ is to come on here, pretending to be a childminder thinking about using the product, then it all kicks off Wink

Al1son · 21/12/2010 15:31

Summerfruit I apologise unreservedly Blush. I should have checked before I laid into you (except of course it wasn't really you I was laying into).

In my defence it isn't just this forum he comes on pretending to be other people. He makes quite a habit of it and Summerfruit worded her question exactly how he usually does Shock

Thanks to those who explained on my behalf.

I wonder if he will appear in the for-said puff of smoke anyway.

I'll go back to my pre-Christmas stress-out now. Got to tackle Tesco shopping tonight. Oh joy!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/12/2010 15:35

very gracious apology, ALison

Summerfruit · 21/12/2010 15:45

Ha so sweet !!! Thank you Alison !! I love when it ends like that !!

I've been on mumsnet for years, not posted a lot recently but you can check my history (even though I've not posted loads under this name).

I've been using babysdays for about 6 months or so. Ofsted LOVED it at my inspection last week - got Outstanding in all areas.

WRT planning - yes it enables you to do planning, but you have to do a certain level of basic planning- I'll plan a couple of things to do a week and leave the rest blank to see what direction the children lead me in.

I can also link the medium term plans to the preschool/reception my mindees attend - Ofsted LOVED that too.

I've met Mark, he drove miles to come to a childminder forum to hear me talk about babydays (with no monetary gain whatsoever for me by the way).

Not sure why you're all so negative. He's trying to run a business and to my mind babysdays saves me hours and my parents love it.

So ner.

Al1son · 21/12/2010 16:03

Chabbychic. I think the best way to defend Mark Kahl on here is not to start up any debates about the merits of his software.

If he's lucky this thread will now die a peaceful death having comprehensively answered Summerfruit's question about the product.

I think that would be a more edifying result for all concerned.

chabbychic · 21/12/2010 16:08

Okaaaaaaay.

looneytune · 21/12/2010 21:25

'Not sure why you're all so negative' - because he came on here and was really rude and tbh, it's THAT which is stopping me ever trying it!

3children · 22/12/2010 13:41

Hi, this is my first time, I dont want to cause any slanging matches or offense but I have to say that I use....shall I just make reference to BD...and I have had my first ofsted inspection and my inspector loved it. Honest to god it saves soooooo much time. Now I wont pre-judge people and I think everyone should take offense at rudeness :) but Im also thinking we all have bad days....maybe he was having one ! I have always had very helpful and positive emails from Mark himself, so I guess I can only speak highly of his time saving and informative system, to do so otherwise would be really unfair. I think like all things, you'll never know unless you try and also different things suit different people :) My parents absolutely love it ! Thats me done lol

BoysAreLikeDogs · 22/12/2010 13:53

Look, 3children, I'm afraid that NO amount of soft-soaping by happy customers can repair the damage done by Mr Babydays on here

And as he has form for coming on in various guises posing as a happy customer I'm sure that you'll understand that your post will be treated with caution by the regular minders here

And as to folk having bad days - well, how very unprofessional for Mr BabyDays to vent his bad days here, a terrible advert for a business, I'm sure
