Worried that if I have a CS then I won't be experiencing childbirth....

Now don't get me wrong - giving birth petrifies me!! But that doesn't mean I don't wnat to do it!

I am 28+2 and baby is breech (plenty of time to turn yet I know, but still am a pregnant panicker!!) and not really in to the thought of having a natural breech birth....

If I had to have a CS am I really experiencing ''childbirth'' - I mean, do you have contractions or anything...not really sure how it works....is my first DS....

Feel like a proper thicko now.....

Don't worry

I was planning a water birth but got an em CS (undiagnosed footling breech). I also got a very happy, healthy child. As Riven has said, that is all that counts. I have never felt cheated, if anything, a little smug that I recovered and healed a great deal quicker than many of my friends who had VBs.

I would have a CS again. I have no hankering for a VB.

Don't stress. It will be fine.

I was all set for a home water birth, but it wasn't to be.

I had an ELCS with only child, and it was absolutely brilliant, best thing ever. Do I feel cheated or disappointed? No way. Not for a second. I feel blessed and lucky.

I don't feel cheated either - I wanted a baby - not "birth experience"!

These earth mother types will critcise your birth, next on the list will be breast feeding and I reckon by the time my son's three they'll be ridiculing me for not having him enrolled in Montessori or taking Mandarin lessons. I think it's just something we have to get used to - no matter what decisions we make for our children there's always going to be some organic lentil-weaver doing it using plaited pubic hair and breastmilk.

I would say though that if it's a planned c-section and you want to breast feed, start pumping in advance so your boobs know what's hit them. My emcs/illness/etc. meant my boobs had no fecking idea they were supposed to produce milk.
