So in my other thread I was worried about being forced into hospital strapped to a bed on a drip etc, well waters broke this morning, decided to stay at home until midwives said to do otherwise (if his heartbeat dropped etc) was only 3cms dilated so midwive left, 2 hours later called them to say contractions are very strong, stood up and within 3 pushes he was out, doula caught him, midwives arrived 5 minutes later and said he looks well and now I'm laying here on my couch, with my 7lb13 baby boy in a fleecy sling sleeping and all is perfect!

Lovely name it's on our shortlist for this one, he's my fourth, first boy.

I have always laboured on my side curled up but turned to my back to push. Don't know if the SPD or the pain makes it hard for me to stay upright.

I was upright (in pool) with DS and pushing still took 20 mins - better than the 2 hours with DD though.

Although I didn't really push very hard, could have pushed him out more quickly, just(more like hypnobirthing breathing him out) wanted it to be calm and gentle for him and didn't want to tear.

He was born at 00:06 and midwifes joked halfway through pushing that I could choose his birth month (it was midnight on 30th April, he was born on 1st May).

Maybe its just quicker with #3?

=)
Ah, yeah probably, his head was considerably smaller than the last's too

I didn't even push number 3 out, I was on my side in the foetal position and took the gas and air out turned onto my back and felt her slide out, head followed by the rest of her.

The afterpains though ouch and ouch not looking forward to them again.

Yes! I had very sore afterpains, similar to the contractions at around 3cms dilated.
Midwife said these can hurt more with 2nd and 3rd, had to get up and take pain killers and wait for them to go before sleeping.
