I have a theory but need some "statistics" first to see if it is proved or disproved....

Can you tell me if you were induced or not for each of your births?

Eg for me it would be

dd1 - no
dd2 - no

Thank you - will let you know if I'm right when I've got over 100 answers!

1st time yes - 4 loads of gel - didn't work
2nd time - no cos believed would be waste of time & didn't want pressure of quick birth on c-section wound (consultants advice)

vickiyumyum · 24/07/2005 21:32

ds1 yes - 3 days and then c-section
ds2 no - c-section

dS1 - almost - induction at 14 days overdue delayed due to high heartrate then labour started naturally.
DD2 - no

feelingold · 24/07/2005 22:20

dd - yes, 3 days overdue and high blood pressure
ds - yes, 14 days overdue

hunkermunker · 24/07/2005 22:30

Come on! I want to know what Miaou's theory is! Get this to 100 people, please!

misdee · 24/07/2005 22:32

dd1, drip set up after 24hours as waters broke and nothing happened.

dd2, nope.
dd3 ARM, no other form of induction needed as she was quick.

nutcracker · 24/07/2005 22:33

Dd1 - NO - Had elective section

Dd2 - NO - Had emergency section

Ds - NO - Had elective section

zaphod · 24/07/2005 22:34

dd no
ds2 no
ds3 no

dd - only ARM

So what's the theory?

Miaou · 24/07/2005 22:56

lol, I have explained my theory already - I'll c&p it here:

"Right, well all your replies so far show what I thought would be the case... about 50% of babies of those who replied were induced.

I was reading "What to Expect When You're Expecting" last night and it confidently said that only 10% of babies were induced, which sounded far too low to me. I know that my "survey" was not exactly scientific, given that the thread title is more likely to attract interest from those who were induced than those who weren't - but even so, 50% is a big difference to 10%!!!

Stupid book "

I've now added in the extra replies - now running at 45.5% induced to 55.5% not induced - so is the book wrong/out of date or are we a highly unrepresentative sample, I wonder?

Any midwives care to comment?

Whoops! Thanks, Miaou! Interesting statistics - woud be interested to know if the rest of the population (those mad people who don't use MN!) are all uninduced!

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 23:01

DS1 no (but was going to be as waters broke ended up with CS)

DS2 - yes - again waters broke - so was induced 3 days later.

Ailsa · 25/07/2005 00:04

DD1 - Yes
DS - No
DD2 - No
