Can you drink alcohol while in labour?

I was reading a book lately where a woman has a homebirth and when she goes into labour at 11pm, her doula tells her to 'have a glass of wine and go back to sleep'.

Is this GOOD advice or BAD advice?!

Just curious really.

moondog · 28/06/2005 22:03

Np, bet you waddled in to the labour room with a G&T in one hand and a fag in the other!

Still psml remembering the thread about 'What interesting things can you do?' (or something similar) and your contribution was along the lines of
'Drink a bottle of gin and not fall over.'

ROFL!

kgc · 28/06/2005 22:05

P.s - I hope you have a fantastic labour and birth - good luck hun.
