Yep its my positive attitude thread. No matter what happens, this time next week we will be 5 and our new ds will be with us (or he'd better be ).

I saw a fantastic different midwife yesterday (slightly embarrassing as I work with her dh) but she was very positive, without making any promises, told me what she was doing with my cervix, told me to give 'it' another go with dh in the hope that it might help (I promised him I wouldnt ask again ), she booked my induction for monday and booked me another sweep for friday.
After seeing her I felt more positive than I have done for a few weeks about the whole 'ruined perfect MLU birth'!

And to those of you still unsure about the SF jab, she asked if Id had it which I have and she said thats good because in our local ITU there are currently 4 pg women with SF . Shame you dont here about it on local news, it might encourage people to be vaccinated and highlight the risks

my dd was born about 3hours after my sweep!

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2009 10:02

sorry, point being you may have a baby in abt 48 hours
good luck!

Poledra · 18/11/2009 10:03

Glad you're sounding so positive mosschops! FWIW, my induced birth with DD3 was fantastic, by fat the best experience of the three!

Poledra · 18/11/2009 10:03

far, I mean

Disenchanted3 · 18/11/2009 10:05

good luck

i had a sweep at 11am 23rd Dec, had baby 6:20am next day

mosschops30 · 18/11/2009 11:19

well stealth have had 3 sweeps now so not holiding out too much hope for the 4th one, but Im ok with it now. I think when Ive got an end in sight its easier

poledra were your first two births spontaneous. I had an induction with ds (baby no.2) and I agree it was fine, only 6 hours and nowhere near as bad as spontaneous labour with dd (25 hours).

You can call me fat if you want I have put on 3.5stone and dh calls me 'slim'

mcb2b · 18/11/2009 12:29

fingers crossed for you. I hope it all goes well.

I also have induction booked for friday of this week as baby showing no signs of wanting to appear of its own accord and so will need to be encouraged.

Going to try a reflexology session today but not holding out much hope!

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2009 12:44

at 3 sweeps
Is the MLU definitely out, even if you go into labour before Monday?

Poledra · 18/11/2009 12:46

Yep, both DDs 1 and 2 were spontaneous onset labours, but DD1 ended with an em c-s under GA, and DD2 was forceps. DD3 was induced with synto (and an epidural) and it was great.

mosschops30 · 18/11/2009 13:55

stealth - yes can go to the MLU if I deliver between now and going for induction next monday. They would take me up to next wednesday (at 40+14) but Im not waiting that long this time, did with ds and it was soul destroying.

Thanks poledra

m2b2b good luck for friday, but hope it happens naturally for you before then, am sending you some good contracting vibes

Stayingsunnygirl · 18/11/2009 13:57

Fingers crossed for good news, Mosschops.

BTW - have you considered laying a trail of something like chocolate buttons or toy cars to lure him out?

mosschops30 · 18/11/2009 14:15

lol, not even sure that would shift him

Am more of the mind-set that my womb is like the 5* version of wombs, a bit like the Burj al Arab, with lots of good food, opulent surroundings and warmth
when I asked ds (4) why he didnt want to come out he said 'because it was beautiful in there' which is obviously why his little bro is so reluctant to join us

OP posts:
mcb2b · 18/11/2009 21:15

Mosschops - that's a great way of looking at it. I must also have luxury accommodation in there!

Sending positive contracting vibes right back to you!

Had a refelexology session this afternoon and so hope that may help get things moving naturally.

Off to shops for chocolate buttons and toy cars as last resort!

mosschops30 · 19/11/2009 19:33

How was the reflexology, any news?

Ive had a show (again) today, although more bloody this time (sorry if TMI), hoping it may be the start but not getting hopes up. Only 3 days til the deadline so this baby better get its act together

4th and final sweep tomorrow

OP posts:
madmissy · 19/11/2009 19:42

grr at the sweeps i had so many with dd2 and in end was induced but i was not as far gone as you

where are you in uk with regards to the SF pg women?

i have not had the jab and i'm in 2 minds its nightmare! im 35+3 with dc3/ds1

jealous of the labour threads!

mcb2b · 19/11/2009 20:44

Reflexology was great for relaxation but sadly absolutely no signs of going into labour without help and so planned induction tomorrow. At least I know the end is in sight!

You sound like you're having encouraging signs - fingers crossed you'll get there before your planned inducement.

Anyone know if there is anything I should do to prep for induction?

I have been offered swine flu vac - I would have had it on recommendation of trusted doc but appt was today and think you probably need a couple of clear days to get over any side effects before labour (so far as you can ever tell when that will be).

mosschops30 · 19/11/2009 21:38

mcb2b Im still hoping for you that something might happen overnight, keep those positive vibes going til the last minute. Please come back and let me know how you get on, will be thinking of you tomorrow

I had my SF jab at 38 weeks, and I dont regret it one bit (currently 4 pg women in our local ITU citically ill with SF). I did feel awful the following day, terrible pain in my arm spread across my chest and made me feel awful. But it did last only 48 hours, and my GP who had it the same time said she felt like she'd been hit my a bus.
But Im glad Ive protected myself, and my baby.
I would still consider it after the birth, if you were considering it before hand, youre still at risk in those first few weeks and also if youre bf you will pass some immunity to your baby.

Good luck for tomorrow

OP posts:
mosschops30 · 19/11/2009 21:40

sorry - so meant to say probably a good idea not to have SF vaccine and then labour the following day.

madmissy am in cardiff

mosschops30 · 20/11/2009 14:29

well yet another sweep has come and gone.

MW said baby's head is a good size which is now bothering me more than anything! She thinks the whole thing is a 'good size', but generally said that because he is now back 2 back again, his head is just not pressing down enough on the cervix to get me into labour. She said my cervix has stayed anterior and is now 2cm and more favourable, she doesnt think the induction will be a problem.

Heres looking to Monday

(any comments on the 'big head' thing would be great)

OP posts:
MamaG · 20/11/2009 14:36

big head thing will be fine

This is your third baby, your fanjo will be MASSIVE

Your posts are so lovely on this thread mossy , so positive - i was stressed about going overdue with BabyG and it was only when I relaxed and thought sod it, there's nothing I cna do now, I went into labour. Only one of my babies I have gone into labour with too! Agree don't worry about induction, I had two induced labours and they were fine!

I feel very excited that babymoss is on the way! Have a lovely weekend with the family, enjoy your last few days as a 4. I was waddling walking around Christmas shopping the weekend before i had BabyG and it was so nice to do that all together.

cathcat · 20/11/2009 14:44

Good luck Mosschops. Curry tonight? and DH pressed into service again .

Snigger at Mamag and her 'helpful' comments

mosschops30 · 20/11/2009 14:49

Yes to curry (its a friday must), but am letting dh off now, bless him, I think 4 times in a week when your wife resembles a hippo is enough for any man. Plus he's defrosting the freezer and queued outside Toys 'r' Us this morning for an hour to get ds a bloody go go hamster - so he's well and truly up on the brownie points.

lol @ mamag - if I didnt like you so much Id be very insulted at the massive fanjo comment (rofl). Nah not really, it will soon be like waving a sausage in the Albert Hall for dh

I just paid £34 for a sandwich in subway, £4 for my sub and £30 for the bastard parking fine the copper gave me he was ready to launch into a big lecture about how my crime equalled that of a murder when I happily chipped
'oh well if youre not letting me off, you can bloody carry on and Im going back in to get my sandwich'

Im loving the madness of the end of pregnancy

OP posts:
mosschops30 · 20/11/2009 14:54

mamag yeah also agree with the just giving into it. We did our Xmas shopping yesterday, and just enjoying last few days bumming round doing nothing before the madness.
Am totally accepting that its not gonna happen. Tis nice to have an end in sight.
Were both your induced labours the same? Midwife says it probably will be.
She also said that if theyre funny about me going to the MLU after delivery to give her a ring and she'll see what she can do , our dd's are at school together, which I thought was lovely.

OP posts:
MamaG · 20/11/2009 14:55

pretty much, second one was faster though. Same in terms of pain etc

waddlelikeaduck · 20/11/2009 15:52

lol moss at sausage and albert hall... i think our DH's will just be glad of a little rest!

fingers crossed for weekend action!
