Decided we can't afford a HypnoBirth course, so am going to try a CD instead. Recommendations?

Hey, you just know I'm gonna read the bit for midwives.

'The New Experience of Childbirth' 2004 is what we've got

Yeah, I used the birth choice Web site.

Did you know Sheila Kitz has a good page on Birth Crisis / 'bad' birth counselling here ...

I think if I stay with Kitzinger, Balaskas and Ina May, (and possibly Mr. Read) I will have more than enough to confuse my little brain.

But thanks for the offer.

I hope your bookcase is flat pack otherwise you'll have to hire a van to bring it to me.

LOL.

I dunno, Pruni... I was planning on shagging the wife with the dog looking on whilst tweaking my nipples preparing for my first breast feed.

LOL

WOOF ! WOOF ! = PUSH ! PUSH !

PS - to clarify, we have no pets, but quite a few tadpoles and some newts.

You're pretty well connected for a giraffe.

LOL. Can you imagine the association it would create between the 'pain' of labour and, ahem, getting jiggy ?

No thanks.

Pruni: I think there are an acknowledge group who do not regard 'pain' as the correct word to describe the experience of the sensation of 'discomfort' IYSWIM...

Gski... am I talking pants or do you understand what I'm on about...

.... like it's the interpretation of the experience as pain, and that the interpretation could be changed (enhanced ?) with positive thinking, mental trainining, relaxation / breathing etc. etc. etc.

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 21:25

(am not saying this is my POV... only that IIRC I've come across it on my journies throught the InterWob)

I spent a fortune on hypnobirthing training and found it all totally useless crap as soon as I started labouring.

However I think that the techniques are very useful for general life application, relaxing etc.

Wish I'd spent more time while pregnant listening to some decent music in the car though instead of the damn hynobirthing CDs ...

franch · 15/05/2005 21:43

Oh now I don't know what to do! Break the bank doing the classes/sessions? Buy CDs? Forget the whole thing?

I would buy the CDs perhaps, and investigate some of the books.

It's your second birth and if you read some of the threads about second births, you are very likely to find it a LOT easier all round.

franch · 15/05/2005 21:50

Thank you mp, I needed someone to tell me what to do!
