all of the above simultaneously
ohh, on a trampoline.

Wilkiepedia · 28/03/2009 22:56

Twiddle your nipples, one at a time. Worked for me - 9 days early. It releases some hormone apparently.

gigglechick · 28/03/2009 22:58

better still, get dh to do it for you

wastingmyeasternameopportunity · 28/03/2009 23:03

A Mars bar and a can of coke. Honestly!

MinkyBorage · 28/03/2009 23:05

lol at nipple twiddling one at a time. I'll have a go!
Trampoline stroke of genius, although I'll have to climb over the wall to use the neighbours'. I hope they don't think I'm weird bouncing up and down on their trampoline whilst nipple twiddling in their garden at this time of night. May save that treat for the morning.

my friend went into labour a couple of weeks ago after lifting her toddler up during The Grand of Duke of York...

gigglechick · 28/03/2009 23:06

pmsl minky

MinkyBorage · 28/03/2009 23:07

I've had two cream eggs and am drinking guinness. I keep getting it all wrong. Marsbar and coke eh? Defininitely worth a try.

I was hokey-cokey-ing for England on Friday with my two, and seriously though that had done the trick, so my parents came down so they can look after the dc when I go in to labour and I feel really like a watched pot that just isn't boiling. Will try the Grand Old Duke of York in the morning.

err, yes til about half an hour ago when some prat told me I have to 'do' easter
ahh well.

AnathemaDevice · 29/03/2009 08:22

I'm now 10 days over, have tried just about every induction method I've read about, up to and including a sweep (going to have another one today) and nothing is happening! Despite the midwife saying on Thursday that I looked ready to go any minute. Might try going to visit my parents today- they live an hour away and I'm hoping Sod's law will mean that my waters will go in the most inconvienient place possible. Like whilst on the M25, for example.
I'm resigning myself to the fact now that I'm not going to get the birth I want, and I'm going to have a crap ending to a generally crap pregnancy

Cosmogirl · 29/03/2009 09:49

AD - I really feel for you. I am still two days from my due date and I am just so fed up, not to mention really uncomfortable now. I have had sickness and nausea all the way through and still have it now. It just seems unfair that some people go so over their dates and there doesn't seem to be any reason why....

I have been told I can have a sweep on Fri and then induction on 9th due to Easter Weekend (short-staffing etc). It isn't what I want...I would much prefer to labour naturally. But at this point, I just need to know there is an end in sight, for my mental health as much as anything else.

Good luck and I hope it is all over for you really soon x

Cosmogirl · 29/03/2009 09:56

MB - btw, I am not convinced that any of this 'natural' induction stuff even works...I think the baby comes when it comes and gives off its hormone thing to kick-start labour.

I think most of them are a) to keep bored heavily pregnant women occupied b) make bored heavily pregnant women feel guilty they are not doing all these things...bitter moi?...

lilymolly · 29/03/2009 09:57

Ha 11 days overedue here, so totally know what you are going through

was induced at 12 days with dd so never gone into labour naturally.

Had 2 sweeps, 4 cm dilated and still nothing!

Getting induced in the morning

Sorry cant be more help, I have tried everything, apart from sex and nothing worked so far.

I would try to relax and enjoy your last few days without a screaming new born x

Cosmogirl · 29/03/2009 10:00

Good luck LM - you must be tearing your hair out by now! Bet you can't wait for tomorrow to come.

MinkyBorage · 29/03/2009 18:09

Any news from anyone? This is rubbish, I'm feeling like I'm being terribly disappointing and everyone is hanging about waiting for me to do something interesting! I'd love to be able to do my own sweep, it would make life much easier!!

AnathemaDevice, you really have my sympathies, I'm only 3 days over and it's a nightmare, 10 days.......phew. Hope it happens soon. Poor you.

Cosmogirl, hope something happens soon for you. 'm inclined to agree with you that they come when they're ready, but I NEED to feel like I'm doing something. Grrrr.

lilymolly, good luck. Hope it happens soon.

Cosmogirl · 30/03/2009 08:49

No nothing MB...due date tomorrow but I'm not holding out too much hope on that one! Nothing else has really gone as I expected so far so why should labour start on time?!

Oh well I guess you never know - I could be in that 5 per cent of people who have their babies on time.....

Good luck to you and hope it starts soon.

AnathemaDevice · 30/03/2009 09:26

No news here, I just feel like crying, to be honest. I don't want to be induced, but I can't take much more of this- I'm tired, I can't sit comfortably for more than five minutes, I daren't leave the house in case anything starts happening, and I can't walk very far now anyway.
I'm feeling very sorry for myself right now, which probably isn't helping with regards to things starting to happen. People asking on Facebook/texting etc if anything has happened yet really isn't helping (because, of course, I wouldn't tell anyone if I had had the baby ), and if one more person tells me to eat curry because it starts things off I will scream!!

Cosmogirl · 30/03/2009 09:36

AD - oh you poor thing - that sucks! The texts aren't helpful are they? Not even due until tomo and I've had the odd one or two...sure there will be more to come.

I just want something to happen - am sick of sitting around and watching stupid baby channel programmes seeing all these women get their babies! I want mine!

Went to Asda yesterday and two people asked when I was due, when I said Tuesday they both looked in disbelief and said the same thing 'what are you doing out?' As if you should be under house-arrest from 38 weeks.....sheeesh...

Baby has been going crazy last couple of days (has always been very active) but seems quiet today. I wonder if that could mean something re: labour being close...probably not but a girl can hope right?!

Good luck and try to stay strong. You have done amazing to get this far overdue without flipping out.

pregnabrain · 30/03/2009 09:50

You have my sympathy. I was in your position this time last year.

Acupuncture worked like a dream for me.

I went to the session feeling totally cynical about it (but desperate enough to try anything at that stage!) but the effect was amazing. Walking home from the session I could feel that the baby's position had changed inside me. It was really odd. That evening I felt anxious / excited, and the spot where the acupuncturist had put most of the needles was really sore. Labour kicked off the following morning and the same spot on my back was really sore throughout. Labour was very straightforward (phew).

It may well be one of those things that only works if your body is ready anyway, but it's worth a try I reckon. Can take up to three sessions, apparently, but the success rate is really high.

Good luck to you all and enjoy your babies. Am so envious of anyone about to embark on life with a new bundle.

MinkyBorage · 30/03/2009 10:20

Oh my goodness, I'm going to make an appointment with an acupuncturist NOW!!!
Sorry no one else is having any luck either. This is sooooooooooooo boring, and I'm becoming obsessive about every little twinge or change!!!

I drank gallons of raspberry tea with ds2 - recommended by midwife, and a bit gentler than bouncing on a trampoline whilst nipple twiddling (I thought that it was supposed to be both at the same time?)

helsbels4 · 30/03/2009 10:32

I took the raspberry leaf tablets, went for long walks and had a vindaloo but both of my dc's were three days late, so I agree that they come when they're ready - soz!!!
