Music to give birth to...your choices?

With dd we took a cd player into hosp and had musice like Dido, eva cassidy etc as far as I remember, and a relaxation cd i got free from a magazine ages ago but which is a really nice one. I remember the music - all stuff we were fond of at the time (Did's 'thankyou' was our first dance wedding song) - setting such a great mood. Haven't bought any music for ages and want to start getting some together for babe - due in July. Any ideas?

ds was born to Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony...not my choice as it was in the operating theater but realy very nice. dd was an emergency so no music.

I took Ezio "Black Boots on Latin Feet". My favourite. But in the end I didn't bother with it and we just had the radio tuned to the local station. Can't remember what was playing when she was born, but I can't listen to S Express by S Express without being back there, legs akimbo having my stitches done!

We had "Handel's Messiah - A Soulful Celeberation" - a soul adaptation of the Messiah. Ds1 was aptly born to the track "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given".

One of them was born to Mozart's horn concerto. I can't remember which one though
And I can't remember what was on for the other!

I remember a wonderful birth where Bruce Springstein was being played and we were all singing to 'Dancing in the Dark' as the cord was cut. Still brings a smile to my face.

I had chosen to take in Enya and Clannad for no1 and Bond ( funky orchestral) and Andrea Bocelli for no 2 and as both were caesars I was unable to have either but play them a lot now for the girls.

We didn't take music in for dd1, but the telly was on so the music we heard was........

The theme from the Tweenies
The theme from Ever Decreasing Circles
and........ I do like the Damned and have a soft spot for Captain Sensible.......but unfortunately the theme to Big Break is not his masterpiece.

DD2 arrived quickly, in the bathroom, so the sound of the Ambulance arriving was music to my ears!!!

Elvis, Love songs. My fav.

I laboured to that through my personal stereo(for 3 days - was induced), so I really associate it with DD, even though she wasn't actually born to it. I got stressed out with it before the pushing stage and growled at DH to get that racket off! Like Cod, I needed all my thoughts for concentrating!

Got all my stuff ready, CD's, bottles of water, cushions, playing cards, birthing ball etc

(well OK the last one was a lie they provided them).

Got to the hospital.

Got into the delivery room.

Got on bed.

Clamped eyes shut. Clamped gas & air mask to face.

Pushed for bloody ages & screamed at MW for bloody ages.

DS emerged.

Music...errrr....

Beethoven. can't remember what and can't remember hearing any of it. I can remember sometime after she was born realising that my bedroom was full of paramedics who had done their stuff (having arrived too late for the actual event) and that Beethoven was still blaring out from the portable cd player which was on top of the ironing board. Of all the things that were going on I have such a vivid memory of that. It was the somewhat surreal juxtaposition of some of the greatest music ever written, a cheap portable dd player, an ironing board and the creation of a new life. Bizarre

I can remember carefully selecting half of HMV to take with me - but once those contractions kicked in did I want to hear any of it? Did I xxxx.

ha ha at theme to the Tweenies, hmm, that early? I mean, I know you get used to it but...
Dp put a compliation cd on for me (Torn was on it actually!) while I was in labour with dd but I don't remember any of it.

Can't remember and it was only 12 weeks ago ! - just remember that the radio was on and for some reason I am sure it was commercial radio - was emergency CS so didn't have much say in the matter

We had David Gray on in the car on the way to the hospital which was already in. Dh put it on to try and calm me down. When he went home that night after dd was born he put it on again and it made him cry
