Hi ladies,

I have been searching the internet and can't seem to find anywhere that sells Arnica 200c tablets.

Has anyone out there bought some and if so could you let me know where from please?

hi, i have heard a lot about Arnica. will it help in healing of csection wound? thanks

jumpingjojo · 24/12/2008 15:16

Hi, I bought arnica from my local health food shop.
Heron - I forgot to take it in the end and my c section scar healed up just fine without it so I can't say for sure. I think it is supposed to reduce brusing so it may help.

FunnyLittleFrog · 24/12/2008 17:24

Got mine in Boots. Took them after episiotomy, healed fairly quickly.

CoteDAzur · 24/12/2008 17:46

Once wound is closed, put Arnica cream over it rather than taking the "200c" tablets.

At least the cream has some Arnica in it. Tablets have none.

heron22 · 24/12/2008 17:56

ok thanks for that. will try it.

heron22 · 24/12/2008 17:57

ok thanks for that. will try it.

www.freemans.uk.com/

the above can sell you any remedy in any strength if you dont want the expense of a kit. Have bought 200 c stuff from them and it costs a fiver or so

newmomma · 26/12/2008 18:54

Can you use arnica cream on your bits after a natural birth? I bought some tablets from Boots yesterday, as the woman said gel/cream might not be suitable for where I'd use it! Think it was only 30c, though... Does that sound right?

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 20:59

MNY - if you have grazes/stitches down below, what you need to do is keep it clean (pour warm water with a drop of comfrey - natural antiseptic - or lavendar in it) and dry (blot with pads or dry with hairdrier on v low setting). Salt baths and lavendar baths good for cleaning too. Dont think putting arnica cream on it would be best idea (as not keeping it dry then) so oral tablets prob best idea (I had pretty bad tearing last time round and the comfrey, baths and keeping dry meant I was mostly healed within a week and didnt get any infections).

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 21:02

Oh newmomma - if you have painful bits post birth, definitely recommend hiring a valley cushion (you can get them from the NCT and other places) as it makes life so much easier when you can sit down comfortably while your stitches heal (relieves pressure on stitches).

hellymelly · 01/01/2009 21:06

Arnica of any potency can be bought from any of the large homoeopathic pharmacies in London.Goulds on Crowndale rd,london NW1 or Ainsworths on New Cavendish St will both post out remedies.Arnica is for bruising,so you can take the remedy or put the liquid in your bath.If you also have a wound then you need to take calendula, arnica and possibly bellis perennis as remedies but avoid arnica as a bath. You can get a surgery mix from the above pharmacies for post c-section healing.

picklesmama · 02/01/2009 16:06

I got Arnica 200c from culpeper (this particular branch was opposite the Chelsea & Westminster). I only had a tiny tear but it healed brilliantly.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/01/2009 13:00

I got mine from www.helios.co.uk

SarahinOxford · 04/01/2009 22:01

I just ordered the childbirth kit from helios and it contains Arnica 200 - the one from Neal's Yard is actually the Helios one but if you order it from helios themselves, they're having a sale so it'll work out a couple of £ cheaper than NY.

knicknox · 28/01/2009 19:41

Recent research has indicated that, although of benefit after the birth, taking Arnica prior to labour may lead to increased bleeding and bruising. Most homeopaths would agree that it is best to give remedies in response to an exsisting imbalance so take the Arnica 30 after the birth. When pregnant it is best to stick to short courses of low potency (i.e. 6c) homepathic remedies for minor ailments. If you wish to take potencies higher than 6c during your pregnancy, you should consult a homepath.

CoteDAzur · 28/01/2009 19:55

Given that there is not a molecule of Arnica in those pills, I can't see how it can hurt to take as many of them as you want at any point in your pregnancy.

That is why homeopathy is safe during pregnancy, incidentally.

CoteDAzur · 28/01/2009 19:57

Which "recent research", knicknox? I'm really curious if you have found any research that shows homeopathic Arnica pills are anything other than placebo, because to the best of my knowledge, no experiment has ever shown homeopathy to be more effective than placebo.

bunsen · 28/01/2009 21:31

The 'c' measures how many times the homeopathic remedy has been diluted, so the 200c is diluted by 200 parts and the 6c is diluted by 6. The 6c is more potent.

bunsen · 28/01/2009 21:36

Well thats what the cow at Boots said anyway!

CoteDAzur · 28/01/2009 21:47

Actually, this is what homeopathy dilutions mean:

1C = 1:100 dilution

30C = dilution by 10 to the power of 60 = you need to give 2 billion doses per second to six billion people for 4 billion years to deliver a single molecule of Arnica to any patient

200C = dilution by 10 to the power of 400 = in short, there is no chance of finding any Arnica there. At all.
