oh. bless you.....

drink plenty of water...it'll dilute your wee and hopefully sting less....
try putting some cold witchhazel (keep the lotion in the fridge!) on your sanny pad...its really soothing, and antiseptic too i think.

i was told to use badeas bubble bath in my bath after giving birth...it has horsechestnut in it which promotes healing....its nice. very expensive, and heavily scented so don't try it if you have a sensitive fanjo!

congrats on your baby btw!

Poledra · 01/10/2008 10:16

Congratulations on your baby!
Try lavendar and/or tea tree oil in your bath. Both are antiseptic and the lavendar is v relaxing too.
Have you tried pouring warm water over your fanjo as you wee?

weddingcake · 01/10/2008 13:06

Tip a jug of luke warm water over yourself as you wee and it'll hopefully relieve the stinging.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 13:14

You can make cooling healing pads that really help.

Get some comfrey tea ( online or from holland and barrett. Make it nice and strong, add about a tbsp of witch hazel to each cup. Put a couple of tbsps on a maxi pad, wrap in clingfilm and put in the freezer. The comfrey tea is astringent and healing, the witch hazel stops the pad freezing hard.

Also sit on the loo facing the cistern and lean forward, and tip a jug a cool water over yourself as you wee.

I had grazes last time that were taking a while to heal, spent a fortune on one of those special ice packs that didn't help at all. Then heard about the healing pads and they really helped.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 13:15

Should say mine took about 3-4 weeks to heal.

LadyOfWaffle · 01/10/2008 13:16

wee in bath, or have bath ready and don't wipe & jump in. Mine were better in 2 /3 weeks

Bluebutterfly · 01/10/2008 13:19

Agree with weddingcake - I used an old bottle with one of the sports caps (they are good for aiming the water where it hurts most) filled with water to squirt at my episiotomy stitches while I went and it relieved alot of the stinging. I also used to sit in Epsom salts in the bath (get at the chemist).

noonki · 01/10/2008 13:23

ahhh my DS1 was born 21st sep but 3 years ago

and I too had a graze - pour warm water as you wee on yourself- poor you it did sting

took about 3-4 weeks to get better, much better once the bleeding slowed down

congratualtions!!!

boogeek · 01/10/2008 13:25

I had a graze with my first and it took a few months to heal. My MW gave me some camomile cream which was lovely and soothing - weleda do something similar I think. Poor you

biglips · 01/10/2008 16:03

thanks everyone as im feeling better now as mum got me some tea tree oil and lavender oil from the Chemist so will be using them tonite. Also what didnt help that my boobs were so full, even the bra were hurting me too. i didnt express yesterday as was running off my feet getting my dd1's bday things together etc...never again leave the express as ill do it there and then. Now they are empty and ive slapped on loads of Sudacrem. its ok for now.

CarGirl · 01/10/2008 16:08

my graze was more painful than wound that got stitched the next time around. It will be much improved after 2 weeks promise.

biglips · 01/10/2008 19:31

how many drops (each bottle) do i put it in the bath?

OP posts:
Wade · 01/10/2008 19:38

Wee at the end of your bath and/or during a shower. Took about 2 weeks to start to feel better. The term 'graze' didn't do it justice.

emskaboo · 01/10/2008 20:24

5 drops of each

biglips · 01/10/2008 20:42

righto! just had a bath which it was lovely and i put 10 drops in each. will do 5 next time.

Use a big plastic jug filled with warm water and one drop of tea-tree oil and just before you start to wee start pouring it down your fanjo from up above, then the wee will be very diluted, shouldn't hurt. Then repeat again with another jug of plain warm water.

Or wee in the bath!

AnnasBananas · 01/10/2008 20:48

Also keep doing your pelvic floor exercises as this will draw blood to the muscles and speed healing. Good luck! And congratulations too!!

lauraloola · 01/10/2008 20:51

I had stitches and a graze when I gave birth. The stitches I cope with, the graze I couldnt! I sat on a rubber ring which was bliss.

Also, the best thing I did was to put a capful of Dettol in my bath every other day. It healed it up almost immediately. It doesnt sting either when you go in the bath. I used to shower off afterwards so that I didnt stink of it!

sambrads · 02/10/2008 11:29

hi ya i had a graze with ds and put cold witch hazel on my pad it was pure heaven and i put savlon into the bath as the mw recommended it to me

i cant remember when it healed but it was pretty quick as me and dh were back to love making

biglips · 02/10/2008 23:07

well good news as since ive had that bath yesterday with 10 drops of each - tea tree oil and lavender oils.....i feel sssoooooo much better. Still abit stingy but not as bad as it was as yesterday.

OP posts:
Poledra · 02/10/2008 23:29

Glad to hear it biglips

Biggogglyeyes · 29/10/2008 16:02

well ive got the graze as still inflammed as its very red and still sore but it did clear up quickly after i last posted on here but a bit seems lingering on slowly. Ive got my 6 weeks check next Wed. (mydd2 will be 6 weeks this Sunday coming)...is it still too early to be completely clear.

im struggling to sit down more than 20 mins - feeding dd2 as then its feels painful.

im still using tea tree oil and lavender oils and sudacrem too but was using them every 2-3 days...this week been putting sudacrem on every day cos its sore.

LavenderTea · 29/10/2008 16:13

I know midwives don't recommend it anymore, but my mum recommended for me after dc 1 to buy savalon antiseptic liquid (same as dettol but nicer smell) . You add a capful or two to a bath of water ( exact quantities are on the bottle) and just soak a while in it. i did it every day for the first couple of weeks and found I healed quite quickly.
