THis is what happened to me with dd. Just little trickles of waters. Started about 11am, around 4pm I had a show. That night I had contractions for about 4 hours then they stopped. The hosp induced me the next morning. Dd is a beautiful 5 yr old now

mummy2bsoon · 24/07/2008 13:39

i wana avoid induction as much as possible... i dunno! whats going on... crampy feelings back again!

Do ring the midwife, they like to induce if proper labour hasn't started after 24-48? hours from when waters break. Afraid I can't remember.

The baby needs that fluid around it, and although you haven't lost much it is a sign that it wants to come out.

DownyEmerald · 24/07/2008 13:42

I can understand you wanting to avoid induction - even though my baby was early I was stressing about that because I was sure she'd be as late as I was.

But the important thing is the baby being born - once it is out it is all worth it, and at least once you get induced you have people looking after you, and it will all be over relatively soon.

mummy2bsoon · 24/07/2008 16:22

ahh yeh thats true, gonna wait for dh to cum hme...gettin aches, feels like a a constant tummy ache, right at the bottom of my bump..and if i bounce on the ball it hurts...hmmm

why don't you call the midwife and get her to come out to you to check you over? if your DH isn't going to be home until later it might be worth doing this for peace of mind

good luck xx

mummy2bsoon · 24/07/2008 17:40

ahh labour ward rang me, to change my induction date to wednesday!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!

i mentioned to them wats appening, sed jus omnitor it, as the dampness has vanished, and the discharge could be due to the attempt on the sweep!

Sounds like baby is on the way! I get very excited about shows because I had them with both dd2 and dd3. With dd2 I was in labour (as in owwwwwwwwwwwwwww contractions) about 1 hour later and with dd3 it was about 4 hours later.

I hope you've been resting. Don't forget to eat, drink and pee.

Find something to occupy yourself (eg sort photo album, watch a comedy etc).

Take gentle walks. The emphasis on GENTLE.

mummy2bsoon · 25/07/2008 09:45

oh that's brilliant - sounds like all moving along!
Take care of yourself - vigorous hoovering probably isn't a great idea
I'm off on holiday tomorrow - won't be able to find out what's happened - but be thinking of you!

mummy2bsoon · 25/07/2008 21:12

ahh im getin contractions, now 10 misn apart, really irregualr, mild pain!!

hmmmm

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 25/07/2008 21:15

I wouldn't bother timing them yet, you can be in early labour for ages and it can get really frustrating when you're trying to time contractions and you can see the gaps between them widening etc

You'll know when it's getting serious because you'll have to concentrate more on the contractions, you won't be able to talk through them as easily. Maybe you'll have more of a show, or have your waters go properly.

It will happen, just rest, you may need your energy sooner than you think! These things always seem to kick off around 3-4am.

mummy2bsoon · 26/07/2008 13:56

ahhh my contractiosn are all over the place, make no sense, range from 12 mins to 4 mins apart....
