LOL @ mars wanting to doula herself.

mind you , i would have another baby now, only so that i could give birth so much better!

litterbug, i know a very good doula not too far away from you.

MarsLady · 12/07/2008 13:05

You see litterbug... it all comes good

SNoraWotzThat · 12/07/2008 13:05

Wow I almost feel like getting pregnant again if I could have a doula like marsy or lulu.

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 13:07

Hi Lulu,

Has she a website or something?

You know I never really considered a doula before, I mean I did the HB thing last time and watched all the pro grammes (lol) and alot of them used doulas but last time I never felt I would need some support but this time round I just feel like I may.

Can you email me the ladies details so i can take a peep

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 13:08

i didn't type 'pro grammes' (how forrest gump does that sound?!) firefox changed it!

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 13:08

no worries, thanks.

Can I ask why the price seems to fluctuate so much between doulas?

Ive seen 2 now that are £150 ...

Fee £150 to include:-

  • two antenatal visits to discuss hopes and wishes of the mother and partner
  • discussion and exploration of birth choices
  • partners role in labour
  • relaxation and breathing techniques
  • how hormones effect labour, what you can do to help
  • learning ways of coping in labour
  • confidence building
  • dealing with past experiences (mothers or babies)
  • attendence at birth, providing physical and emotional support
  • companionship and reassurance throughout labour and delivery
  • telephone and email support throughout
  • one postnatal visit within 3 days after the birth

and yet another 3 or 4 seem to be £400 plus expenses.

There doesn't seem to be differences in 'experience' the lady i took that from (£150) actully seems to have more experience.

Hi Lulumama

It's a little while since we corresponded but I'm glad to see all is going well for you.

I think your website is excellent.

Best wishes for your future business, I know your clients will be exceptionally well cared for.

hertsnessex · 12/07/2008 16:10

Litterbug, doulas prices vary on if they are recognised (if they are Doula Uk) and experience. £400 for a recognised is v v cheap TBH.

Liahgen, If I could have another baby I would def have a doula - go for it!
