I think she must have gone offline - she is in the North West if that is any help.

liahgen · 12/07/2008 12:31

i doulaed a doula via phone, text and MSN and email .. . had lots of talk prior to the birth and during labour and then a lovely message about a milisecond after her DD was born, i had a little cry. it was just like the real thing

do you have News by any chance?

there must be some fab doulas in the south east? is that too far for mars or hertsnessex, my geogoraphy is appaling!!

lulumama · 12/07/2008 12:41

it was great to support her, even long distance, as she had good strong ideas of what she wanted, and didn;t want, but was realistic and informed. i imagine in RL, it is just the same. you take your doula hat off when you are birthing to some extent, don;t you as you in a different zone and the needs of any laboruing woman are to be supported and nurtured, regardless

liahgen · 12/07/2008 12:41

no news yet but we are actively working on it. Am hoping very soon.

Mars is london isn't she? bit far for her i think. Also Herts.

I've been offered freebies from 2 colleagues, (including my trainer) but tbh can't make my mind up, it's really difficult isn't it.

I have lots issues from previous births and want to do it so differently this time. I know i'll come up against lots opposition from hcp but am determined to stick to guns.

ie, no hb due to age, pg history, many children, 9this will be no 6)

how wonderful to have those offers though ! what is holding you back from deciding?

if you click and you get on and tehy support you, it sounds ideal !

MarsLady · 12/07/2008 12:48

right... have emailed you but yes I'm too far away. Sorry!

liahgen · 12/07/2008 12:49

i don't know what is stopping me deciding.

I probably need to get together with them in a doula setting don't I, as opposed to a colleague setting.

Will let you know how i get on.

I've had a mad couple weeks, 3 births in one week, couple weeks ago. How are you getting on.?

am really , really quiet at the mo. nothing doing but then everytime this happens, something turns up! i am doing my stuff at the hospital, and have various things going on .. but no clients. we are going away in august though so probably a good thing.

i thikn you need to get together in a doula setting for sure, and talk more.

MarsLady · 12/07/2008 12:51

I think it's good that you hold on to what you want.

so... if you want to brainstorm what might be holding you back, luladoula and I (and poss herts if she sees this) and other doulas that pop by, will help you through it.

lulumama · 12/07/2008 12:53

oh yes, i love a good brain storm!

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 12:53

I would love a doula ... am feeling a bit apprehensive about homebirthing this time round, not sure why as it was perfect last time!

MarsLady · 12/07/2008 12:55

Well litterbug... why not check out lulu's site and see if she's near you. Then you can have a chat and see if she's the one for you. She's rather amazing!

If she's not near you try Doula UK Click on find a doula, input your postcode and get in touch with some.

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 12:56

shes not a million miles away, I a,m in north west too but too far still i think!

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 12:57

Thanks for the link, will have a look

MarsLady · 12/07/2008 12:58

I love doulas. I'm completely jealous of all my clients that they got a me and I never did.

Have a see who's out there for you, have some conversations and then decide. You won't regret it.

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 12:59

No doulas within 50 miles of me!

surprising as I live in manchester, i thought there would be a few!

Litterbug · 12/07/2008 13:00

IGNORE THAT!!

I put my postcode in wrong!

pmsl!

See...I do need some help!
