Third child -what weight were they?

Following on from the other third labour thread I wondered how much did your third child weigh in comparison to your first 2. I have had 2 dc;

1st
9lb 1oz, induced, 27 hrs and ventouse as he was distressed, episiotomy, tore anyway

2nd
9lb 15 1/2oz, spontaneous labour, 12 hrs, baby got stuck, forceps, 3rd degree tear, still having problem 'down there' 8 months afterwards.

I'd like a 3rd but my husband thinks we'll have a baby elephant next!
I seem to grow big baby?s I just can?t deliver. ( I would like a c-section but not sure this would be allowed?)

Was your 3rd bigger/smaller than your other 2?

stepfordwife · 02/07/2008 19:51

ds1 - 6lbs 14oz

ds2 - 9lbs 6oz

dd - 6lbs 10 oz

Olihan · 02/07/2008 19:51

Probably should add though, despite being 10lbs+, dc3 was by far the easiest labour, 2 hours from start to finish, 13 mins after my waters broke and he was born. Pushing stage was less than 5 mins.

Swedes · 02/07/2008 19:52

DS1 - 9lb 9oz
DS2 - 9lb 9oz
DD - 7lb 15oz
DS3 - 8lb

muppetgirl · 02/07/2008 19:53

this is the one thing we just can't make a decision on...dh is scared something bad will happen.

Muppet I had DS1 by emergency c-section as he was in a poor position (posterior) and stuck. DS2 was my VBAC - episiotomy failed ventouse, mid cavity forceps and a lovely third degree tear (which healed wonderfully thank goodness). DD and DS3 were both elective c-sections.

Of course you could ask for a c-section.

aGalChangedHerName · 02/07/2008 20:58

Ds1 was 6lbs 6oz

Ds2 was 6lbs 13oz

Dd1 was 9lbs 14oz (Ouch!!)

Dd2 was 8lbs 12oz.

MrsWeasley · 02/07/2008 21:05

I was told that each baby is normally 1lb heavier than the last (told by midwife - so it must be true )

DD1 7lbs 3oz (2 days early)
DS1 8lbs 3.5oz (2 days early) see a pattern?
DD2 9lbs 10oz (10 days late) if had been on time it was feasible that the pattern would still be ok.
DS2 11lbs 1oz (7 days late) Sod the pattern now

All normal deliveries, all started on their own etc.

muppetgirl · 02/07/2008 21:13

a 1lb heavier than ds 2 would be 10lb 15 1/2oz

I would ask for a c-section!!!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 02/07/2008 21:18

DC1 - 8lb 6oz

DC2 - 8lb 12oz - so far following the trend...

DC3 - 8lb 6oz - back where I started

DC4 - 8lb 2oz - smallest of the lot!

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2008 21:20

DS1 8lb 15

DS2 8lb 6

DD 7lb 1

(all 2 weeks over due)

beaniesteve · 02/07/2008 21:24

my mums were

1st 8lb

2nd (me) 5lbs

3rd not sure but bigger than me and probably smaller than the 1st.

Elasticwoman · 02/07/2008 21:33

My third was the biggest at 10 lb 6 oz. No stitches, hence my nickname.

I daresay you could get an elective cs if you insisted, but a cs guarantees 6 weeks not driving, not lifting etc when a vaginal birth has a chance of being, well, normal.

You had difficult births 1st and 2nd time, but this was not necessarily to do with the weight of the baby. My comparatively easy birth was due to keeping upright and giving birth in water, primarily. It also helped that I was not overtired before I started (despite being borderline anaemic).
