I actually agree that the baby carrier could set you back so early. Best allow your core muscles to recover first I think! Incidentally, I was able to use the baby carrier much sooner post C section than after the vaginal birth. My pelvic muscles were in such a state after that one, it was a good 6 months before I could di it without feeling like my insides were falling out. The pelvic physio also said it wasn’t a good idea.
Also, please please please don’t feel like you’ve failed! We’re so often told our bodies “are made to give birth” and “know exactly what to do”, when they aren’t and don’t. Human birth changed when we started walking upright and our heads grew in size to accommodate our bigger brains. Biologically, it’s a dangerous business. For some it works out without a hitch, but very often it doesn’t and we are very lucky to have modern medicine to step in at that point. Before that, maternal and baby mortality were very high, as they remain in areas where medical help isn’t at hand. It makes me so angry when women are made to feel guilty as a result of what is, essentially, biological fact. NCT, hypnobirthing and the like have a lot to answer for in that respect.
Finally, you’re only a week in and understandably traumatised after the miscarriages (I’m so sorry!), the category 1 section and so on. Time will heal, physically and mentally, but don’t hesitate to talk to your GP about trauma counselling if it doesn’t get better. Big hugs 💐.
PS re the buggy, I know it’s not the same as strapping her in, but would a buggy board help with your toddler?
